Harry Kane MBE

Pretty much this.

I see him as eventually becoming a superior version of Rickie Lambert: winning the ball high up the field with his energy and strength, and then dropping into space and looking into play a reverse ball releasing an inside forward/strike partner.

We haven't had a player like that for a long, long time. Hard-working, good passer, decent technique, strong, good in the air, not the fastest, but runs his b*ll*cks off and clearly has a modicum of football intelligence.

Agreed, somewhere in between a Lambert, Sheringham, Berbatov striker, but certainly with more energy than the latter of those :)

What is his contract situation?

Signed until the summer of 2019. Probably on very reasonable wages too being developed by the club and fairly low profile up until a year back, so contract extensions in exchange for a solid wage bump should be very likely.

Unplayable at the moment as I said earlier I just hope he truly has some loyalty for us because I think he is going to attract some massive bids in the not so distant future

Clive Allen was co-commentating on the Swansea game and he was saying that Kane was very impressive when he was coaching him for the Academy team.

Allen reckons that Kane will be a huge star for Spurs & England in the future.

I'd like to see him take a few more of those 1v1's. I know last night he was knackered but there have been others where he's not taken them.

I'm very impressed with him so far this season, I'll gladly admit that I didn't expect much from him this season based on what I have seen earlier. Kudos to Kane for showing effort, stamina, abilty and a nose for goals. Though, yesterday he could have squared (to Dembele?) when he was thru in injury time and I have seen him making similar wrong decisions on other occasions. He's still young, I know!

Who was it that was willing to bet that Kane would never be a first teamer and would end up in the championship? I think it was a couple of years ago.

Anyway just goes to show how far he's come. Progressing really, really well. Long may it continue. With us!

Trevor Morley (ex-West Ham ****) was calling him a poor man's Wayne Rooney in the Norwegian PL studio.

Kane has proved himself now and if we are to change our pathetic goal difference to something more positive we will keep him in the team as a regular.

Must admit I have thought of him as a Rooney type in that Rooney probably isn't given the plaudits he deserves because he works his socks off.

Kane shows that same work rate, and to date the majority still make out like he's a 'try hard' type with little skill, when in fact he has great intelligence and good technique....

Think people should also remember Kane's progress in his second season around the first team, when they are laying into Mason when he isn't having the best game. People also need to remember that this is effectively due to injury/not being played Lamela's first season in English football. Just saying that Kane should be an example that you can't just write off people when they're only just breaking through. Bentaleb is showing signs of being far superior than some gave him credit for last season.

well, I hope we temper the Kane hype a little, he's good, but young and needs to work hard.

Hope all the fans will still be with him when he hits his inevitable bad patch.

Agreed.

Bentaleb hit a not so great run of form earlier this season. Mason now seems to have faded a bit after a very bright start. It's natural for most players, particularly young players like these.

I agree with the Rooney comparison's in that you can't term either player as an out and out #9 nor your typical #10. They play both roles well, but are not recognised as being specialised in either.

I'd honestly be surprised if he was playing for a top 8 premiership team in a couple of years. And I wouldn't be surprised if he was a championship player. I think he's too slow and lumbering, and ultimately not clinical enough.

I will say that he does surprise me, he runs with the ball very well and battles hard, and given chances he will score. I dont quite think he's close to good enough, but I'd be delighted if he kept improving and became a great striker.

:ross:

I think he's overthinking it, alot of his goals seem to be on instinct. When he has time he seems to waste the chance. Which is surprising because he knows when to release the ball for a good pass
