Conor Gallagher

Watch him complain if we sign him now 😂

InvertTheWing is absolutely bonkers but I had a look at his profile the other day, he's gone from about 10,000 followers to almost 140,000 in what seems like a few months.

For those bleating "But he's not Pirlo / Madrid/ Xavi"', ponder for a minute as to what happens if Palhinha gets injured.

Good signing if it happens and the guy has end product in the premier league. We could still do with a maestro, but also we needed to replace Bentancur (who in my opinion isn't anywhere near it anyway).

Hopefully Gallagher will provide some extra dynamism and our next signing is Palhinha’s midfield partner for Portuguese national team, who appears to have come on leaps and bounds since his time at Wolves…

Did he say that or was that rumours? We've been the side rumoured to want him for some time now, but previously it's never been more than that.
He/we wanted him 18 months ago.

Club couldn’t do a deal with Chelsea (I suspect because Chelsea didn’t want to sell to us what with him being a fan favourite there)

But why a loan for Villa? That’s my point. They were likely hamstrung by PSR where as we weren’t.
Villa also have less need for him and so less desire to add him permanently to their wage bill. He's a potentially useful addition for them in the short term to achieve their goals right now, but necessarily someone they require long term.

Poch liked him. Not sure what all the vitriol towards him is if the plan is to get Poch back in the summer. I would have presumed all the Poch lovers would be delighted, but it appears not.

Given the injuries i would have thought his signing would be well received. Is homegrown (i think), played for Chelsea and Athleti so cant be that bad, proven player and we need more depth. For where we are i think attracting him is a decent job.

Also, Palhinha is only a loan with option, im sure we wont but him if we get Gallagher.

Some places saying £25m upfront with the rest as add ons. I think this is a good signing, young but still has a decent level of experience and has played in the PL and CL etc. Don't forget he was Chelsea captain for a bit as well - will definitely add some energy and leadership to our midfield.
