Brennan Johnson

If we could find a player that could do the same but for half the price why wouldn't we?

If the club think savinho is the player we need and are happy with the price. Then fine. But lets not pretend it's not a lot of money. It is big money.
If the club had found that available player for a cheaper price they would obviously be in for him :D

Yeah it's a lot of money, no one has said otherwise. Your last paragraph just sums up what the point has been the whole time....

Richie stats you quote are for him at cf by the way

Sure, but in a system that was setup for the 9 to be a Firmino and the 2 wide players to pick up equal goals.

My original point was that with the right side being so strong with Porro / Kudus AND Frank's instruction to cross it early then it would be interesting to see Richi coming in off the left and attacking that far post. The impact aerially of Richi and Solanke in combination would be interesting.

I think the price is a red herring. His £31m transfer was between 2 of the 13 City Group clubs. It was a controlled environment.

The only price that matters is the one that Spurs value him at in their minds. We don't have a clue what that is yet. All we can do is trust the process.

To get in to positions to, and then be able to consistently take the opportunity to score is a extremely rare trait that you are massively underestimating

Could not agree more, he is a player who can find the back of the net and does so with ease. He does not take players on on the wing but that is not his strength. IMO he gets a lot of unfair slagging by some fans [ its all about op inions though] and seeing as he has to play with a lot of slagging by those fans he still gets into the posistions to score those goals.

Rather him than lamela.

That’s the kicker for me
More money that Kvashielle
More money than doue (yep younger player and not as proven)
More than Olise
I just think that for that money I’d want guarantees
We buy Kudus but that was a dead cert. I think Savio is too but for a club with a history of BIG money guys being brought off the back of a few seasons that worries me (tanguy still leaves his legacy)
Would those three come, though? Answer = no

In Savio we are probably closest to a "almost world-class talent" as we possibly can get. And - after all - what's your problem if we can afford it???

Can we afford it
I’m not sure how
I don’t think he is close to being world class hence why city will sell him

Think he'll be very useful on the counter when we play the better sides, he has pace and is a good finisher

There's a trade-off there though wrt what he offers outside of that - vs the better sides you can't afford passengers in the starting XI. I think Johnson has a role to play but I'm not sure it's the role that you're describing

Lineker used to do very little except score. Ditto Clive Allen. So it is not impossible that Spurs could carry Johnson as some main goal threat if others are doing other jobs e.g. if Solanke/Richarlison put in this huge effort to fight and hassle and get the ball up the pitch and progress the team forwards and then Johnson taps the ball in.

.......but yeah, it is frustrating watching Johnson be so massively ineffective; when a player finally offers him the ball, he just passes it straight back. Thus he stops getting it.
