Lol 'easy run'. Before the Frankfurt tie what were people saying? We were going to get beat. Then when we drew at home and we were going to get spanked at their place apparently.

Before the Bode game what were people saying? We needed to be 3 or 4 goals up in our home leg to have a chance as they are really good at home (having just beat the team who finished top of the EL group stage)? Now we beat them with two very good performances they were all of a sudden no hopers.

Ange is right, Spurs does funny things to people including their own fans....
That’s my issue
No one on any level can defend the league
Not one person can IMO
But Europe we have done everything we need to
We are in the fudging final and u to oh can’t actually do better than that

“Easier run than usually afforded to finalists in previous years”

7 of the last 9 Europas leagues were won by CL dropouts. So yeah it has been easier than playing CL teams…

It would still be epic to win a trophy. But factually it’s not as difficult as it used to be so Ange should stop blowing his trumpet (we also haven’t won it yet!)

It is still difficult, it is difficult to win any European trophy. Anyways, I must confess to not seeing Ange blowing his own trumpet - do you have any links or quotes as to what he has said?

There’s a few on page 22 of this thread.

Says people are “banging the drum” of how many defeats we’ve had without considering the knock on effect of getting this far in Europe.

Not once has he acknowledged we’ve been brick, and the last 2 weeks Europe is the new excuse.

If he said weve had a shocker but let’s now win a trophy would prob be on his side…!

Despite my grumbling about Ange I feel we absolutely have to win this, and for that reason think we have a good chance.

If Ange wins our first trophy in 17 years, our first European trophy in 41 years, he will have done an incredible job! He’ll forever be on the (sadly too short) list of managers who won a major trophy for the club — the league form has literally nothing to do with it.

If you’d rather finish 4th or 5th then that’s fine…I’ve watched us do that and those seasons will mean far less to me than this season, should we manage to win it.
So you think Ange should be forgiven for all the rubbish he has served us up because he won a mid tier European title?

People were probably saying we were going to beat because we've been playing incredibly poorly for most of the season 😂 we've been favourites all the way through iirc let's not rewrite history because some fans on the internet were pessimistic amid poor form (shock horror)

I really believe there's a real fear, for different reasons, internally and externally that we might be about to break the drought.

If we don't win it, we're really in for a loopy next few years.

I think the fear with a lot of fans is that if we win it there may be a chance Ange stays on for next season, which for me would be absolutely ridiculous.

Also his argument for our poor league position being because of the cup runs is laughable, Villa havent done too bad have they?

How is that blowing his own trumpet???

We were favourites at the start of the tournament, we weren't by the time the semis were being played (no idea at what point the odds changed). Not sure how being favourites makes a tie 'easy' especially when it's Spurs being the favourites.

And regardless, people were concerned because Frankfurt are a good side especially at home in Europe have a very good record as do Bodo Glimt and there was a clear narrative change once we had successfully navigated both those sides....

Well it is beyond comparison because I don't know of any club in Europes top leagues that after nigh on 15 years of consistently challenging for the top 4 or 6 in the league and playing in later stages of Europe, appoint a guy whose only experience in Europe was a brief stint in the SPL and then pair him with a bunch of late 20s to 30s coaches from lower English leagues and SPL and then sign a tonne of teenagers. The utter bilge we've had to endure this season was sadly, fairly inevitable and I called it as likely going to be one of our worst seasons in 25-30 years early in the season. People were laughing at me when I said we'd finish in the 40 odd point mark.
Win the final and it will be our best season in 25-30 years.

'It's been a tough season. There's no hiding from it. It hasn't gone anywhere near the levels we wanted,' he told Optus Sport.

'There's frustration in that we've seen glimpses of what we want, but then [there have been] enormous setbacks.

'But in the league, we have been nowhere near it, it has been disappointing.'

But we’re still brick, should sack the manager and sell half the players
Only Tottenham
(And I’m being sarcastic)
But on a serious note
Only Tottenham could have one game to qualify if it’s the best or worse season in about 30 years
Madness

Who gives a brick about Villa? How do they have any relation to what's happened this season?

And yes...I know that's why people are scared. People like you that absolutely loathe him on a personal level are doing everything possible to downplay the [potential] achievement.

Yes? Mid-tier I mean fudging hell how many times can you try to downplay it?

How about if we win the Europa and got relegated, would you still say the same?

Even if we win the Europa, for me this has been one of the worst seasons since I've been following the club (40+ years).

I get not everyone will agree but 1 cup win will not make up for 18 months of pure brick.

My son is Spurs mad and he has said he doesn't want to go to the last 2 games of the season and he is bored of watching us. He hasn't missed a game in 6 years.

Not for me it won't. As an outsider I don't look at West Ham winning a European Cup while being irrelevant in the league or Wigan winning a cup while being relegated as great seasons for them.

I think it will be our greatest result (singular) in 25-30 years, granted.

Do you think West Ham and Wigan fans give two bricks about what you think about their winning a cup?
