In a normal season, no. Not at all. This hasn't been, by any stretch of imagination.
We can discuss the reasons for the injuries and who's to blame, but if anything is "sexy", that is.

Anyway

We've tried it all: we've hired the up'n'coming, we've poached other teams successful managers, we've hired the established winners, we've tried the defensive park-the-bus, we've tried the gung-ho and none of them have managed to win a major trophy. We've sacked them all, because they didn't manage to teach Tottenham to win things.

Now we finally have someone who has won something, HERE, with us.
And it is the first european trophy in 41 years in a year even Spurs-fans think has been absurdly absurd with injuries and bad luck and people want Levy to FIRE him?
Who in his right mind would take on that task now?
Ange took a bit of a gamble, by sacrificing the league form to maximize the chances of winning this trophy. The gamble Levy would have to take by getting someone else in now... well..

Who can possibly come in here now and promise both challenge in the league, _and_ keep winning stuff? Because clearly, that must be the bar for the next dude in order to stack up to the comparison. What if he bums out of Champions League, the cups and finishes 5th in the league?

Ange has done it, he has a trophy. He can (if he gets to continue) build on the young core he has collected, attract improvements where needed, and carry on into champions league and challenge in the league without an absolute neccesary win next season, and still have success.

Sacking Ange now?
Divorcing the wife day before the she wins the Euromillions, I'd call it.
The next manager will have to make us competitive in the league again. That would be his brief. I doubt anyone will get the opportunity that Ange has had this season to allow us to give up on the League, trophy or not.

This was a very unusual season, in that it's been pretty clear for a while that relegation would be between four teams. Here's how things looked on 4th Feb:

If it wasn't clear then, it definitely was a month later:

Wolves then went on one hell of a run, but that didn't matter as we were 16 points clear of Ipswich with 27 points left to play for.

In most seasons, abandoning the league to that extent would have been suicide. As you say though, it could be an important building block. I'm just not convinced that Ange has enough to offer in terms of the league. And no-one remembers a season where you get to the semi-finals of every available cup.

So what happens next season with cl? Do we sacrifice the league trying to win it?

Steff I love you as a poster but I’m afraid that’s far too simplistic if you are making a decision about his future. The style we adopted in the UEFA cup is so different to what we’ve done in the league and from his preferred style that how can we possibly know if he can be a success in the league next season? Where has he shown a middle ground style that can combine both attack and defence? Rather, he has shown he can do one but not both. It’s why I was saying the league games were not dead rubber as many were claiming. They were for him to show he could embed his style.

Look for all my negativity and I still feel a lot of it was justified, I loved yesterday and I realised seeing the players how much faith he has shown in a lot of them. He has also given us a wonderful moment in our history. I thank the man for that and I’m warming to him. But he still hasn’t convinced me he can be successful in the league. The man is a bloody enigma. But one I have more respect and affection for this morning.

See you soon mate...you won't like what I'm going to say ;-)

Whenever the Ange conversation is to be had, a big part of it will have to be about the unity and togetherness he's so clearly instilled in the squad. The players genuinely seem to love him and have belief in him, and want to fight for him and each other.

How him leaving could impact the squad unity, especially after this win, has to be addressed in a decision about his future.

But that's for another day.

Well, people have been 'going early' since the final whistle, so I think the conversation is 'on' TBH...and what you've said here is massive.

Don't think his CL record is any better than his Premier League Record. Lost in the qualifiers to the mighty FC Midtjylland and the following season lost 4 out of 6 in the group, drawing 2. I'm sure Brenda has a better record in the CL but could be wrong

His Europa League record, losing at Bodø with Celtic, very poor...oh...wait...

Sorry Ange, thanks for the memories, effort and the trophy, and you have rightfully earned yourself a place on the walls of THFC, but it's still an out for me.

Whatever your reasoning I’m glad you agree that there’s no correlation so it’s not a factor one bit in how well or not Ange would do if kept on next season. 👍

Fair. Ten Hag was a much better manager in a much worse setup
I'd argue that I've never seen Man Utd as bad squad-wise as they are right now. Apart from Diallo and perhaps a younger Penandes, there is not a single player there I would want anywhere near Spurs. They have overperformed much more than us getting that spot in the finals, judging by the quality in the respective teams.
