AFCON 2023

Ghana have gone from 2-0 up to 2-2 in injury time, and heading out? Egypt now lead. Guess that's the end for Hughton.

Be amazed if Hughton survives. Think they’ve won 1 in 8 with some poor defeats and threw it away last night.

Guess this will mean he’s firmly in the frame for the Ireland job.

Ghana are definitely out
Mathematically they still have a chance. They need Algeria and Namibia to lose, although both are playing the team currently top in the group.

Ivory Coast will probably squeak in. The four best third place teams qualifying is never good for the competition. Stick with a high quality 16 team tournament or go for 32..

So Mali and Senegal will meet in the quarters if they both win their last 16 tie. Which means either Sarr or Bissouma will be on their way back to London immediately after the quarter final. Thank fudge!

Ghana, Algeria and Tunisia all out! That's nuts!!
And Ivory Coast nearly joined them.
No-one saw that coming.
The irony that Nigeria and Cameroon made it through!

Don't usually watch international footie, but really enjoying the highlights of these games.
Loving the spirit of the games, genuine enthusiasm.
Some absolute thunderbastard goals as well.

Of course Egypt go out in the Last 16. Salah will no doubt have a lazarus-style recovery and be available thsi week meaning they lost him for all of one league game (I think)

Interestingly, North African teams have only one the tournament once in Sub Saharan Africa
