Son Heung-Min

Amazing finish, even if he's playing badly at least he's still capable of scoring. Definitely a great squad player, fairly reliable.

If some of these things, minus the praise for the finish, was said about Sissoko people would be accused of hating on him and having an agenda. Despite Son having a better game.

Son is capable of deciding a game like this even on one of his off days. A bit like Alli in that regard. Great player to have in the squad, and right now he's clearly not first choice. I find it difficult to imagine a better player sitting on our bench and at 25 he still has potential to improve.

I wouldn't say it's typical of Son, but he's had a few of those performances for us where he's not up to much and then bangs one in from out of the blue. Lovely finish.
What is typical of Son though, in my opinion, is to not score when through on goal against the goalkeeper. If he's got a man pressuring him, he might score, but straight through on goal? No chance he'll score. :p

Like Robbie Keane all over again!

Son has his off-days, but I fudging love the guy. Excellent to have in our squad, and he scores a lot of important goals for us. Did so well last season, haven't yet hit the heights this season, but delivering goals consistently none the less. I'm really, really happy we have him, and hope we can hold on to him for years to come. He's got the right spirit.

Agree - he's like Solskjaer in SAF's Man U team...never really a first choice but always give 100% and consistently scores. He's a great option to have and I'd much rather have him as an option off the bench than a lot of others in the squad (Llorente, Sissoko, Lamela, GKN etc)

Me too. I'd be gutted if he were to leave/sold in the next few years.

He's a match-winner. I love him and phucking hate watching him all in the same game. He is an important player, I think most teams would kill for a "twelfth man" as good as him.

I'll also leave this here as a reflection of his upsides - when he's on his game, he's on his goddamn game. But give him an empty net and he'll fluff it every time. :p

Also, he brings the South Korean fanbase with him to Spurs, and that means he brings crazily enthusiastic South Korean commentators as well -

I would f*cking *kill* for these guys to replace Martin 'Gooner' Tyler, I really would. :)

I'm still not really sure what the situation is with him and his military service period - he has to do it before he turns 28, I think, and it's for two years. He's 25 now, and will turn 26 next July. Does that mean he'll be off to do it this coming summer? Or can he gain an exemption? Again, if I recall, exemptions are granted if the South Korean team either wins a gold medal at the AFC Asian Cup or the Olympics, or places 2nd or 3rd at the World Cup itself. I don't know if that's possible this summer, before he turns 26.

So, I'm still at a loss as to whether he'll even be around after next summer - no one seems to be in the know about it. :p

I think the way it works is that he calls them up, tells them to fudge off and then gets on with his life in the civilised parts of the world that don't have military service.

Thats him though, isnt it?

As much as I appreciate the good he has done, I think its this which stops me truly warming to him.

He is bloody terrible quite often, in the most frustrating way possible - he CAN do brilliant things...

Terrible quite often? The goal aside, he was most definitely poor yesterday but I actually think he is decent most of the time with the odd rotter thrown in.

If you cant warm to this guy (always gives 100%, never moans, and puts the ball in the net often) then you seriously take a lot of winning over! Needless to say I warm to him with ease.
