Transfer speculation

Winks has the ability to be as good as Modric

Good lord!

Just spat out my earl grey reading this....

Glad you feel so upbeat about our young lads prospects but if were going to metaphorically compare what Winks needs to do to get to that level....

Well he needs to scale mt Kilimanjaro whilst wearing speedos and smoking a cigar!

Remember Modric had to play LM during his first season because he wasn't ready for CM. Winks has already been trusted in some very big games at CM

I do remember, but I think that was more the fact that he was so slight, the coaching staff thought he would get mullered in central midfield.

Maybe Balde might just tip the balance back to 4-2-3-1?

Where would Sanchez play, though? As I said, he probably didn't sign to be a rotation option - he turned down Barca because he felt they wouldn't give him a first-team spot right away.

If we want to accomodate Sanchez and retain the Toby-Jan partnership, we'll have to go to three at the back. Which then means three AMs are out, unless we move Eriksen deeper (alongside Dier/Wanyama in central midfield) and then play Alli + one other there.

Good post, but with the possibility of going deep in the cups and CO we have plenty of chances and options to rotate players in and out when needed.
This could really be a pivotal window for our progression.

Fair enough, mate, and I don't disagree - I would be happy with a window that ended with us having an abundance of top-class talent everywhere.

I think we're still 12 to 18 months ahead of schedule, so poch and levy are trying to keep that momentum going and ride it to glory.

he was pretty deadly at Napoli, and he's scored a lot of goals for PSG, can't be far off a hundred now in around 3 years, he certainly does miss some though

If that happens then surely Cavani would have to go?

Alternatively, they could play with a 3 pronged attack with Neymar on the left, Cavani in the middle and Mbappe on the right with Mbappe and Neymar both given licence to roam kinda like MSN over the past few years

Winks has the ability to be as good as Modric. If I was Dembele, I'd be concerned about my shirt this season.

Agreed. Has a sense of modric about him indeed, and a lot of the same abilities - great vision, positions himself well, has that little pivot move, quick and clever passes - and looks like one hell of a talent. Long way to go still, obviously, but he can definitely become big for us.
