Moussa Sissoko

We are only nattering on here, his purchase is a little strange no matter how ardent a fan you are.
This then leads to "well I'm not writing him off" I doubt any body really is, we all want him to score and create. Most fans will cheer Trump if he was wearing the right shirt.
On here we prattle and nag and basically chew the cud. Only thing missing is descent pint and some peanuts. :D
Fair enough.

Not his fault , but what a waste of money. Wish we'd gone for Bolasie at that silly money .

I think he's a good option to have on the bench. If Lamela was available, he would have started instead.

Sissoko is a battering ram with little end product or guile. A great option late on in games to plough through weak defences, or drive possession up the pitch and relieve pressure. The antithesis to Lamela and not what we needed tonight.

Bit of an overreaction on here, ignoring the price-tag he is a good addition to the squad. That's what matters.

Perhaps we should play in the France kit. That seemed to make him play well. The best connection he's made so far for us was with his elbow on Arter's cheek. For the cash he's been a let down.

He would have been a good £10-15 million buy. But the money is insignificant. He is who he is, and doesn't need the meaningless price tag hanging around his neck. He's not going to be a world beater, no one thought he would be. In fact he's been quietly more effective than I'd hoped. Although not a lot came off for him tonight, and the whole team was rubbish, he was constantly in the game, and he did okay moving down the wing. Had far more play than Son who was completely out the game. Still early days for the big guy.

Regarding the decision to sign him, is it better to have Sissoko at Spurs or not? Definitely important to have an older head in there, someone who can hold off players and carry the ball - okay its not the same as Dembele but we needed another option in that regard which Sissoko is. There could also be more to come as we see what he can do when space opens up. Once moving he would be hard to stop - as Bale use to be. His biggest weakness is his end product - and most of the issue is in his head I think. Just shi1s himself with the cross or shot - so he fits in perfect then.

A big positive of playing Sissoko tonight is that it gave a game of rest to someone who will play against the Goons this weekend. Oh, fuuuuuuuuck, we have to play the in-form Goons this weekend!

I am not sure I agree with this:

He often gets pushed off the ball by smaller players, plus as we saw last night with no end product there is no point to him doing that, twice he stumbled past defenders and he put in the worst cross I have seen and sliced the ball out like a drunk Sunday league player.

Also, we are trying to win things/get in the top 4 - is this really the best we can hope for? a player that once in a while breaks a few tackles?

No matter which way you spin it it was an atrocious bit of spending and heads should roll over our recent transfer business.

I have no idea how may transfers there was in the summer for under 30 million in the PL, but I am willing to bet 85% of them would have been a better option than him.

he's had a handful of games in a struggling side

30m isn't that much in the current market

at least he's not hiding on the pitch

From what I can see - There was only 11 transfer that clubs paid more for.

It is a bit of a myth there is no value in the market

Sissoko positive update.

He is suspended on Sunday and WILL NOT FEATURE AT ALL.

Perhaps he will take a cheeky trip to China to check out the lay of the land.

Nah, I'm going to stick up for him- I'm bored of players getting written off on here after a handful of games. He was nowhere near our worst player, the only reason he is being highlighted is because others have proven themselves in a Spurs shirt previously which is fair enough. But even last night he turned the defender a few times and ran at the defence which was more than most others, unfortunately his end product let him down. Confident six months to a year of Poch training will sort this out because I like his strength and directness....

genuine q, i don't know, what was the going rate in the last window for a first choice international of a major nation with PL experience whom the owning club wanted to keep (or at least not desperate to move on)?
