*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Bayer 04 Leverkusen ***

Really not a fan of Wembley. Hope we are used to it by the time we play there next season...

Regarding the game, I thought the ref made it very difficult for us. Even excluding the penalty, he constantly broke up our play by giving soft free kicks to Leverkusen. Admittedly this wasn't entirely one-way, he was generally inconsistent and had a poor game IMO.

Nonetheless, we should have done better.

Cannot wait to have Kane back, but we should be wary that he may need time to return to form. It seems a long time ago that we were bemoaning him for lacking form even after notching 2 PL goals.

Still, like last season, we seem terrible and misfire during our rough patches, but rarely lose. I see no reason why, like last season, we won't find our groove and go on a winning run.

It would be nice if we started on Sunday.

I've been to my fair share of games as a Spurs fan. From watching us throw away a 3-0 half time lead to 10 man Emirates Marketing Project to getting beaten 4-0 at home by 10 man Man Utd with John O'Shea in goal to hyping up a whole day getting excited at Wembley only to watch us get spanked 5-1 by Chelsea. I've done my time. I consider myself to be quite a tolerant person. But tonight? No no, that's just not on.

I don't expect Tottenham to be the best team in the land. I don't expect us to win every game. I don't expect us to play well every game. But I expect, I demand, I absolutely insist upon, Tottenham entertaining me. I don't give a fudge if we're playing Barcelona or 1970s Brazil, there is absolutely no excuse for creating as little as we did tonight. It was DREADFUL to watch.

The only good news is, any neutral that didn't watch Leicester to begin with would have switched over to them or turned the TV off entirely after a while. If I had my time again I'd literally have just stared at a wall for 90 minutes and saved some money.

Pretty sure it is in our own hands. I made a permutations thread on this board with a link to a 'champions league calculator' that you can mess with to double check.
I'm not optimistic of our chances of progressing from the group. But at least we can focus on the league. Sadly, the league we will have to focus on will be the Europa league. Which will allow Poch to tinkle off half the folk on here by either taking it seriously and damaging our Prem performance or not taking it seriously and missing the chance to win a cup but giving the fringe players a run out and tinkling off the other half. Good times.

Bayer Leverkusen fans were brilliant and made it their home game. The atmosphere from us wasn't to great except for a couple of moments. Just as it was in the Monaco game.

I'm not that optimistic either. We are capable though and the Monaco game will be the first of two cup finals so I'm gonna be pumped.

It would feel a lot better if we were winning.

Oh boo fudging hoo! We're undefeated in the league.

Why can't some of you just enjoy the ride for fudges suck.. Carrying on like a bunch of spoiled Chelsea brats.

We're not eliminated yet and I know we'll get better.

Grow a pair.

I was disappointed we really didn't go for it, especially after going a goal down. I couldn't see how Winks was going to affect the game, surely GKN on the right for Sissoko was worth a go, with Son centrally near Janssen. Eriksen has not been in top notch but he still had our best two efforts from open play. He can always do something.
However, I wonder if our insistence on playing from the back at all times is a hindrance. Walker, Dier and Davies struggled with them pushing 3 up when Lloris had the ball. Also, why doesn't Lloris throw the ball quicker, is it Poch's tactic and defensive drilling?
Also, sometimes you need to think laterally to break oppo's pre-game plan, how about put Rose on the left wing and use his energy to get in the box, have a shot and even nick a goal. Is Poch a bit too rigid in his thinking?

In the longer term we desperately need another striker and a creative AM or a pacy winger with goals in the Jan transfer window, but no doubt the message will be you can't buy good players in Jan, even though we could have bought Dembele last Jan and he eventually went to Celtic. What cost for him now?

Not at all surprised by this defeat. Always knew we would struggle in the CL this season. Unlike our CL campaign in 2011, we simply don't have enough squad depth to compete in CL now. Pochettino should have bought more experienced players to improve our squad. His failure to do so means we are lacking in quality whenever key players like Kane, Dembele and Alderweireld gets injured.

We badly needed someone to step up and inspire us but no one did. Our attack was toothless as all our attacking players were very poor. Atleast Eriksen had 2 long range shots on target. But the likes of Janssen, Alli and Son didn't even have any shots on goal. Janssen really should have scored from the rebound after Dier hit the post from the freekick. But Dier should have scored direct from the freekick as it was in a good position.

I think our failure to control the midfield cost us this match, especially in the second half. Dembele's early injury didn't help us. But Sissoko, Eriksen, Alli and Son were poor and didn't have any impact on the match. Really expected Alli and Son to step up but they were missing for majority of the match. Not sure why we bought Sissoko as he was very poor after replacing Dembele apart from a few dribbling runs.

It was really annoying the way our defence conceded the goal. But our defence looked nervous all match, especially Dier, Walker and Davies. We could have easily avoided the goal if our defence had been more alert. It is clear we badly miss the experience of Alderweireld in defence.

It is disappointing that we have lost both our "home" matches in the CL so far. These defeats have only made it much harder for us to progress to the next stage now. In fact, I think we will need a miracle to progress now. But we need to find our winning form first as we are now winless in 6 matches.

Never understood why we let Dembele escape. Even though Fulham apparently demanded him back for tge rest of the season - so what. If we wanted him, we wanted him. We let Dons keep Alli till the end of the season, so what difference? Seems like just bloody mindedness by someone on our part . Hardly good long term planning. Sheer stupidity IMO.

So you criticise a player for a wonderf
ul free kick with a wall in front of him, but praise eriksen for hitting a shot at a clear goal, under no pressure straight at the keeper.
Jeez!

I agree - but it makes me think we don't know the whole story.
