We're playing them at a good time, Koeman hasn't had enough time to get his ideas across or sort out their defence. Plus Lukaku looks unlikely to play.

A win tomorrow will hopefully cure any hangover from the last 4 games from 15/16 and from the Euros. It really is crucial that we start the season well given what happened at the back end of last season.

I'll go for a narrow 2-1 win.

not sure im happy with verts walking straight back as he was brick at the end of the season, brick at the euros and hasnt kicked a ball in pre season but seeing as we have no other option il have to deal with it

Totally. That last league win at Stoke last April (as great as a night as it was), seems a lifetime ago

To be fair he was playing LB at the Euros and he sucks at LB. Would have preferred Wimmer starting but hopefully Vertonghen will be on his game.

So we're back again! Getting a little bit excited now. As usual I have no idea how we'll fare in our first competitive game of the season, but I'm hopeful we'll get a draw. Maybe even a win.

A lot of things points to an advantage for us; settled squad, settled manager, few major injuries (Son and Dembele missing though) vs. new manager, changed squad, top striker injured. Not that I think it will matter much, because everyone will be fired up for the first game anyway. And Everton have had fewer players on international duty as well, I believe.

I'm going for the 1-1, with Janssen coming off the bench to net the equaliser in the final ten.

Mauricio Pochettino feels Victor Wanyama can fill the void left by Mousa Dembele in the opening four games. #THFC

Pochettino: "'It is an opportunity for Victor. I think Victor is a player that knows us and how we work and the philosophy." #THFC

Sounds like it will be Dier & Wanyama.

hmmm....will be interesting to see how it works. Doesnt feel like there's enough ball-playing or attacking ability in that pairing but Poch knows best. Team therefore picks itself given JV is also available. Vorm, Davies, Trippier, Mason, Janssen very likely on the bench along with probably Carroll (though I'd prefer WInks) and either Njie, Onomah or Chadli

fudge, we are back Baby, can't wait for it all to start again, COYS !!!

I expect us to hit the ground running, dominate and win. Key is keeping it tight at the back, absolutely. If Jan does play, he needs to prove he is back to his best together with Toby.

This is going to be an easy, albeit slightly nervy win. Everton isn't sorted out yet. We'll dominate, but end up getting the goals late. 2-0 Spurs.

To be fair they were all brick at the end of last season, Alderweireld included. Alder/Verts is our best partnership and we should always go with it, fitness permitting.

It can only be a good thing if Vert is fit enough to play. I'm glad that Poch said Wanyama will come in for Dembele. So the team should pick itself then?

Koeman may not have had them for long, they may not be as fit as he'd like, he may want new players to come into his side, but at home first game of his new tenure, Koeman will have them fighting with everything they have. It won't be an easy game. We should have enough, but it might take until the second half for us put them to bed.
