OMT - Tottenham Hotspur vs Borussia Dortmund - 2nd leg

I must admit I was

I underestimated them, and overestimated us, I honestly thought we had a chance

People need to watch these teams more - when the draw came out I knew our goose was cooked. They are 15 points clear in 2nd and CL is assured so they can give the EL a real go.

We were much improved today though!

Just got back in from work so missed the whole game and team selection. I see Poch played a stronger team this game than in the first. Wtf is all that about?

Regardless of whether we played our first team over both legs or not I think Reus was right when he said we'd get beaten anyway.

Dortmund are a superb team and I'm very happy they've come this far as a few years ago the only football I watched other than Spurs was Bundesliga and always followed Dortmund as they were building themselves back up from midtable, not to unlike us in the past decade actually.

If they were in the Premier League this season I think they'd win it.

Shows how far behind the Premier League is. If we do manage to get to the Champions League that everyone seems to so desire we are going to have to add major improvements to the squad to even begin to compete.

I disagree. Dortmund would give any team left in the Champions League a decent game and would be in with a chance of winning it if they were in it now. If we are in the group stage, then the worst that could happen is that we have to play one team of that calibre.

So I guess we ignore the views of the manager (not to mention those of Friedel). What possible reason could there be for Poch giving him those minutes if he is such a not-up-to-scratch footballer?
I'm not ignoring anything! Are you related to him or what? I just think there are other players that merit the talented tag more than Carrol. Bentaleb is 3 years younger and showed more quality last season than I have seen in Carroll.

I've seen them before this season a few times, but they've not done that to anyone whilst i've been watching, they lost twice in the group stage don't forget and got battered by Bayern (thats a scary thought now).

Look at our season so far as well, we've been the better team in pretty much every game until the west ham defeat, easy to collect false confidence.

West Ham was sad but I was not to upset as we could have got drawn their - Hugo was not great for thier goal. Arsenal was sloppy to drop points

PS I suddenly love Owen Hargreaves!

Is he a pundit now? I forgot he'd ever existed. Was one of few bright points about the 06 World Cup played one season for United and then disappeared into thin air. If there was ever a player deserving of the name sicknote it was him. Made 9 appearances in the last 4 years of his career according to wiki.

How about that for stealing a living!

A stronger line-up for our part, which was a bit of a surprise, considering, but the phrase men v boys comes irresistibly to mind again. Probably one of the most one-sided games I've ever seen over there, tbh. They were quicker, sharper and more accurate in every aspect of the game; seemed to know every pass our players were going to make before they knew it themselves and were already moving to close down the recipient. Impressive side.

Aubameyang, Reus, Mkhitaryan ... GHod, what players they are ! All the super big teams must be sniffing.
Pool were heavily linked with Mkhitaryan a year or two ago; I'm very glad it didn't happen, as he is a very good footballer. And can you imagine the Scousers saying Mkkhhittaryan without gobbing on you?

Very impressive - honestly cant remember us coming up against a team so good - Madrid away we got taken to the cleaners and a couple of matches towards the end of AVBs time we were heavily outplayed but Dortmund looked quality, they had so many players in space whenever they got the ball - fair play

I am not related to him (I wish I was though as I would get some good access). However, you said, and I quote, "Carroll hasn't impressed me once, and I don't see a hidden potential either. What is he good at? I just don't see it." That lead to me saying 'So I guess we ignore the views of the manager'. Your comment didn't add that Poch sees him train on a daily basis and knows aspects of his character and potential that you don't. You stated that you thought he was Watford/Bournmouth quality. Clearly Poch rates him above Bentaleb, who did show a lot of promise last year and not this year (I understand he had a long term injury), and clearly you don't.
