*** Tottenham vs Palace FA Cup OMT ***

Think Arsenal just get a very favourable home draw and the rest of the ties kind of fall into place.

26 fudgein years without winning the FA Cup (or even getting to a final). Just one of those days today was never gonna happen for us. The Alli shot that hit both posts defied the laws of physics not to go in. Aside from Toby I'm not sure it was a 'weakened side'.

This now makes Thursday night a huge game for us......by this time next week we could be top of the league too!

And what if less games increased our chance of silverware?

We could well be on the end of a wrong result on Thursday, That would mean we would be out of two cups in a week, then that would leave us with the league, which will be extremely difficult to pull off top spot.

I get your point but I think as fans we should alter our mentality, we should be wanting to win all competitions, I dont like the 'oh it ok attitude that we lose in the fa cup. The way I see it if you get past the third round you need to give it your all.

I am gutted to lose, the more games we play the more chances we get to use our squad and develop all of our players.

Not having a moan we did not play brilliant or s**t, I am just gutted we lost and a decent trophy winning opportunity has gone begging, but yes in the grand scheme of things I would prefer to win the league or Europa more than this competition.

I just dont necessarily see todays result as having a silver lining, we have lost our momentum, and I would prefer our mentality for this club where losing is not something which is acceptable, losing should hurt us all, thats how I feel, Extra days off for the players means little to me, what matters is seeing our lads win something, even if it is from a competition which is devalued and has lost its sparkle.

no, that's not true. The numbers were assigned before today's games so we would have got Reading

Yeah but that doesn't mean the same ties would have got picked - let's say alli scores and Spurs win, a different thought process goes through everyone's head in the bbc studio (sounds silly but it's true) and the guys who pick the balls will likely do something slightly different and that would have a ripple effect for following actions and so on. The balls would be mixed up slightly differently as they get released from the bag and picked differently.

A bit of a wtf post I know but ultimately if we win the ties wouldn't be the same - apart from the goons who by some new law of nature must play at home as the last 3 seasons have shown us 99% of the time.

when arsenal travel to hull for the replay it will be their first fa cup game outside of london since emirates took over sponsorship

Yeah last season cos I'm sure 2 seasons ago and this season has been every round at home and a lot more often than not at home to a brick team

It is starting to look very very suspicious but surely gone are the days when they paid of the authorities to get promoted and switch tricky away cup ties to home ones at highbury.

Whilst I largely agree with this, I believe we should be playing a 'second' team on Thursday.

The amount of and nature of games we have coming up means we have little choice imo. So much so that I personally wouldn't start one player on Thursday that I'd start with against Swansea.

That changed team can still get the job done tho I feel.

It will certainly be interesting to see what he does. I think Dier will return to the base of midfield, and I would probably give Bentaleb another runout as the lad needs games and he needs them alongside someone who allows him to play his more natural game. I felt today he looked tentative and actually slowed his game down more than he likes to (first-half he was at the centre of some slick passing moves)...Id go for Eriksen Chadli Lamela with Son up top...

Sorry mate, but...

We do want to win all competitions, it's just that we aren't ready to yet. Everyone wanted us to win today, all some of us are saying is that it isn't 'hide the belts and bootlaces' time because we lost. Had the performance been brick then maybe, but it wasn't. We were actually very unlucky today. Their keeper pulled off two or three top top drawer saves, Alli and Onuha missed relative sitters and Alli hit both posts with one shot (second time this season we've done that BTW)...add to that the fact that Cabaye and Ledley should both have been on yellow cards in the first 20 mins, thus not staying on the pitch beyond 45, and I think we can see this defeat in a bit more content.

As for 'losing our momentum' you have seen what has happened when we have lost matches previously this season, right? If that is the case here, then let me say I welcome it, because I think we can win the league if we come through early March intact.

I want us to win everything we enter... We shouldn't enter a completion if we dont want to win it. You can't win the lottery if you do t buy a ticket

However ... If we happened to get knocked out of a competition but we're still in others at this point, I'd take that. It's not like the team we out out today wasn't good enough. We were the better side but IMO didn't shoot enough and didn't get any lucky breaks. Given the choice of having no luck in this game or a league game I'd take that.

For me you have to put an order of importance on the competitions that you try to win.. For me it's the league, Europa, fa Cup, league cup. Europa is higher than the FA cup because only a few English sides can win it
