*** Tottenham vs Palace FA Cup OMT ***

He really is, absolute class. Had to take him off to save him for other matches, but he is so good, especially compared to the performances of Bentaleb and Onomah today
Onomah has good technique too, although didn't quite show it, missing that header might have affected his confidence a bit. They are both similar, very right sided , they both need to work on their left side technique. They are young enough to do it but are they willing and mature enough to take them to the next level?

Yeah I would have subbed Bentaleb and or Onomah. Not happy with Bentaleb. Playing Hollywood football when we needed to be patient.
I would have too, more because you need your best finishers on the pitch in Cup competition. Hence, Son and Alli are more likely to keep us in the Cup. I thought Chadli and Eirksen were positive subs, however, I would have gone for Trippier to play RM, as that is where there was space and he has good delivery.
Walkers crossing, for an England International was shocking.

Didn't even look like we tried to win after we fell behind

I thought after 75 mins we ran flat, before that I thought an equalizer was inevitable. I wonder if once the game wore on, the knowledge of extra games crept in? This is what happens with young squads, and I think Poch will want to make sure we develop a squad which can compete on multiple fronts into the spring for years to come. Down to two trophies and that is fine by me...

I personally would have preferred to go for the FA cup, but I'll survive :)

Yes me too. If we believe we are getting CL through league qualification then the EL isn't half as attractive.
Two games to get to the FA cup final and still on for the league and cup double or seven games to get to the EL final and I feel we will need to beat teams of a better calibrate and it will include long arduous trips all over Europe and Thurs/Sun scheduling playing catch up with the other title contenders.
Can't understand why people aren't bothered. Much rather it be the other way around and get out of the EL.
It's a no brainer.

This was the cup to keep going in, not the one with the worst refs in the world and massive travel, but hey.

I disagree.
I think, long term, if we want to prosper in the CL, we need to learn to win in Europe. And right now, at this stage, the Europa plays like the CL given the quality of teams left. Far more important to learn the demands of league and Europe IMO...

Well I am gutted with this...

I think it proves squad wise we are not quite ready to challenge on multiple fronts, this result could also be the reality check we needed to plant our feet firmly on the ground.

Dembele picking up an injury in not good at all neither is the fact that it seems Bentaleb failed to take his chance.

compare this to the Emirates Marketing Project thread and its obvious where people's priorities are...fair enough I suppose but personally I would rather see Tottenham play more games and have increased chances of lifting silverware.

Even more gutted now Palace have drawn Reading in the Quarters

How bad is Dembele's injury didnt know he had picked up a knock?

And what if less games increased our chance of silverware?

We badly miss Dier in the middle of the park when he's not there! We had enough chances to win but it was one of those days. Never like seeing Spurs lose but could be a blessing in disguise, we will see...just hope we now go on to progress in the Europa.

Momentum is hard to build but easy to throw away. Also agree with the post above where longer term a run in Europa over FA Cup will aid the experience of the squad.

to avoid anyone getting their knickers in a knot about palace having reading, had it been us the numbers would have been assigned differently

Whilst I largely agree with this, I believe we should be playing a 'second' team on Thursday.

The amount of and nature of games we have coming up means we have little choice imo. So much so that I personally wouldn't start one player on Thursday that I'd start with against Swansea.

That changed team can still get the job done tho I feel.

Shows how important Alderwierld is.We had our chances on another day we would have won easily.Bentaleb needs more game time to get up to scratch.

Yes and whilst the goons of course got their mandatory home tie, we undoubtedly would have got chelsea or man utd away.

We rotated pretty heavily on Thursday, I think that it is hard to blame that for today's result and it is not as if we did not have our chances today.

no, that's not true. The numbers were assigned before today's games so we would have got Reading
