Saido Berahino

He's English, innit. There's a premium attached to nationality.

The nationality is more to do with the club than the player. English clubs are loaded so they can demand more, it's not like if Berahino was French then West Brom would roll over and take £10m.

I don't know, I can't say I've seen too many transfers where a player signs a contract in June, and then leaves in August, but can't say I pay too close attention to other teams's transfers.

25 mill for Berahino. Seems a bit too steep to me.

35 mill for Martial?

Didn't martial just sign a new contract?
He did, but the club probably needs money. The russian billionaire isnt a billionare anymore. His ex wife took half his fortune in the divorce, didnt she?!
And, they just lost to Valencia in the CL qualification, and have to play with us in EL ;)

Then our only problem will be where to put all those fudgeing money trees.

I don't think that's the point he is trying to make. Whatever our final offer is, it should have been made by now, and either they accept or we we move on.

Specifically on 25million, I'm not sure he is worth that, he has potential and like what I have seen so far, but he is far from the finished article, and for that kind of cash I would want to be buying as close to the finished article as possible.

Van Gaal: "[Fellaini] can play as a no.9 & a no.10. He can also play as a no.6 & no.8. This year he will play more as a no.9 & no.10."

They don't need Berahino, they've got Rooney and Fellaini.

Even if we can get him for a few £m less by making WBA sweat?

At present its the other way round...they have our balls.

deadline day there are no other takers we have theirs.

Chances are we could miss out if a bigger club comes in.

No doubt we will get made to look silly and end up re-signing D Berbatov on deadline day.

Drool.

Out Of interest who are these better alternatives that we could get?
Embolo, for one. Afobe is another. I think if we showed real interest we could get them. What I don't know is if Poch considers them a fit for his system. Absolute worst case, bring Ade back in the fold, at least for EL and cup games to give Harry a rest. I know it's not palatable to many, but if he's on the payroll, let's get however much we can out of him.

Embolo looks a real prospect and is scoring in the champions league

Not sure about Afobe yet and I'd see him needing to make a Step up to the likes of Norwich to prove himself

If there isnt a bigger team in for him then they have nothing.

If there is a bigger team in for him then we won't get him anyway.

I think his stock with us is higher as he has scored goals in the PL, he's not another imported risk

it doesn't mean for a second his form will continue but I can see why our committee might be swayed by an anecdotal indicator bearing in mind the last couple of years

I think he has far more upside than Austin and bearing in mind the price we put on Kane's head I don't think WBA are crazy, the Sterling deal is also a decent data point on value
