I liked Erik Lamela before it was cool

Of course he's a special case .. because of the upside. Somebody had posted a comment a while back that people should read

Lamela is not some foreign kid Spurs took a punt on, not some maybe he has upside kind of player. Lamela has been the next big thing since he was 12, and has succeeded at each change in level.

****ing Sterling .. believe me, I don't think you will find anyone involved in football (not us fans) who thinks Sterling will end up a better player than Lamela, and Lamela fail/succeed at Spurs will most likely be playing for a top side in a major European league in 3 years, Sterling is not likely to play for anyone bigger than Pool.

Its the Ade v Solly thing again for me dude

Completely disrespectful to sterling just cause he plays in England and has been raised as more of an english style player IMO

Strong similarities between you and GB in your assessment of talent. Basically i think you would snub premier league players in favor of continental ones most chance you get

Tottenham Hotspur's Erik Lamela and Benfica's Nicolas Gaitan have been drafted into Argentina's squad for the friendly against Germany on Wednesday due to a raft of injuries. Barcelona star Lionel Messi leads a star-studded list of players who will miss the match in Dusseldorf, forcing new coach Gerardo Martino to bring in reinforcements for the match.

Messi has a hamstring strain, while Maxi Rodriguez (hamstring), Rodrigo Palacio (ankle), Ezequiel Garay (thigh) are all missing and Ezequiel Lavezzi (back) is still being evaluated.

Lovely stuff.

It's a good job we've got a left footed right winger who can put in balls of the same quality :-k

First goal for Argentina right? Not bad opposition to get it against, very happy for him

Tottenham winger Erik Lamela has thanked his club after getting a surprise call-up to the Argentina squad after star man Lionel Messi withdrew through injury.
Lamela has had a difficult time at Spurs ever since his £30 million switch from Roma last summer, but under Mauricio Pochettino at the start of this season, there have been signs that the 22-year-old will show why the club were encouraged to spend big money to secure his signature.
Sky Sports have picked up on quotes he gave to Central Fox, where he said: “Being called to the national team is the best thing that could happen to a football player. I will enjoy it and will try to give my best from me. I am very happy to be in the team again.
"To be honest, I was surprised when I found out I was being recalled, most of all because the list of players had already been done. At the last minute I was told that I had to travel to Dusseldorf and I am very happy about that.
"I had a long injury, so I am thankful to my current club as they have always backed me for anything that I needed.
“In fact, I feel that they have taken care of me, and thanks to that I have started the season in the best way.
“If I have a good performance in my team then the doors of the national team may keep on being opened for me, just like it has happened in this occasion."

Some were suggesting that Lamela could have been sold this summer given the lack of impact he had at Tottenham last season, but his form during pre-season, and the green shoots in his performances have earned him a call from his country.
Now fans of both Tottenham and Argentina will want to see him continue to improve and be consistent with his performances. If he can achieve that then both club and country will benefit from his talents.

What happened to your lot tonight? :D Only got the first 2 goals.

Didnt bother watching after Eriksen got subbed off at HT

ManU just signed a decent winger, but wait, they're playing him as a CM.
