An intimate relationship between two people who love each other in the same team... is just as bad if not worse. Hypothetically speaking a relationship between Vertonghen and Chiriches at the heart of our defence in the same positons, that would represent a risk to the team IMV.

That's one reason why gays shouldn't be allowed in football. Because in a game, is he going to be looking at the opponent, or is he going to be looking at his teammate and going "Ooh. He looks tasty in his kit". And I'm not homophobic, all right? Come round, look at my CDs. You'll see Queen, George Michael, Pet Shop Boys. They're all bummers.

How were these people even able to record these CDs? wouldnt they be too distracted in the recording studio?

Fair enough, although it's rather hard understanding how somebody can not realise what sex they're physically attracted to until they're in their late 20's.

Why is this a big deal though? i mean why should any of us give 2 ****s?

Come on let's not be silly about this. So you don't think this would cause possible conflict of any nature any more than two centrebacks who are not in a relationship. In most jobs, it would represent possible conflict if you're in a relationship, civil partnerhsip or married to a colleague you work closely with. Why is football any different?

This was my initial thought, shows how far we've all come as a society that most of us dont even consider it news. i guess the only reason its news is because it is a footballer and football is still quite archaic in it's thinking. I'm sure there are loads of footballers out there who are gay but just dont feel they can come out, hence this story being big news

I think people are born gay and I think you're being deliberately obtuse.

Denial, society, surroundings, perceived guilt and shame and fear could all be factors in someone only 'admitting' to even themselves in later life that they are gay.

Because people can change over time.

My emotional and physical attractions now, in my early 30s, are far different to what they were 10 or 15 years ago.
Sexual preferences can develop also - just look at chich's posting history :lol:

How backward is this guy??! Clearly he's not as cosmopolitan or as educated as me and it's just embarrassing. I bet he doesn't understand all the new trendy words - like he probably says "****s" instead of "gays", "birds" instead of "women", "darkies" instead of "coloureds".
