Fergie: Retired, Moyes: Sacked, LVG/Giggs: The New Super Duo

Re: Fergie: Officially Retiring

A minute's applause has been arranged for Fergie on Sunday which will take place during the 98th minute.

Re: Fergie: Officially Retiring

Just reading Jamie Jackson's article in The Guardian, he quotes Gill saying United are looking for someone with domestic and European experience and then continues to say that this means Moyes is the most likely candidate? And backs this up because Moyes was in the Uefa cup about 7 years ago and had one failed attempt to qualify for the CL proper.

Has to be Mourinho or Klopp if that's what they are saying, but Klopp says he won't break his contract until it expires.

Remember last year when Redknapp left and Moyes was talked about as an absolute certainty?

Re: Fergie: Officially Retiring

"If" they were nuts enough to give the job to Moyes he would simply be a short term patsy to keep Fergie happy. A sacrificial lamb as everyone knows the hardest job in football would be the manager directly after Fergie.

But I still cant see it. Its lunacy. Great for all the other teams though.

yep, MOyes was my number one realistic choice

The list of former United players-turned-managers is long, but three Old Trafford favourites in particular - Ryan Giggs, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Paul Scholes - have often been mentioned when talk has turned to United's coaching staff in recent months. Of the celebrated three, only Solskjaer is in club management.

Ryan Giggs has played under Sir Alex Ferguson for the duration of his time at Old Trafford so far
Ferguson is known to have identified Giggs as a serious candidate for the future, talking privately and with conviction about the idea of the Welshman, or indeed Solskjaer, taking on the role at some stage in the future.
Giggs is in the process of gaining his coaching qualifications, but Ferguson has, in the past, told friends that the 39-year-old midfielder could adapt to the role of manager and ensure continuity in a similar way to that achieved by Pep Guardiola at Barcelona.
Ferguson has spoken similarly about Norwegian Solskjaer, who was a great success in charge of United's reserve team before he left in 2011 to take over as coach of Molde. The former striker, 40, has led his new club to successive Norwegian titles and was in the running to take over at Premier League side Aston Villa a year ago.
Scholes, 38, has previously advocated Giggs as a candidate to succeed Ferguson. In an interview with FourFourTwo magazine last season, the ex-England midfielder, who will end his playing career at the end of the season, said: "People have talked about Mourinho. It can change quickly. It's about who is successful at the time. You just want the best man for the job. I could see Ryan Giggs becoming manager."
Former United right-back Gary Neville is another who could jump at the chance to get involved in a new Old Trafford coaching set-up and, perhaps one day, take on the top job himself.
Now a successful television pundit, the 38-year-old is already a member of the England coaching team under Roy Hodgson.

Reason why Solskjaer turned down Villa?
I would have thought SAF would want to protect the backroom staff (by bringing in 'one of the family'), rather than bring in someone with their own ideas?

Re: Fergie: Officially Retiring

why would they be nuts to give it to moyes?

Replacing the most sucessfull manager in the history of British football with a man who has not won a single thing, has little to no European experience and who is not a man who will command the respect of players (outside of the prem). As i said, he would simply be a short term fix to keep Fergie happy. He wont be the man to conquer Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.

I hope he does get the job though, as its great for all the rest of us.

Re: Fergie: Officially Retiring

It won't be Solskjær. He won the Norwegian league with Molde last season, but they've only picked up 2 points from 6 games this year.

Re: Fergie: Officially Retiring

I actually have a lot of respect for the job Moyes has done at Everton. He has earned a step-up in his managerial career for sure. With Fergie still being involved at the club, it would also help with the transition.

And for the record, I have been telling guys on my team for the past several seasons that Moyes has been waiting for Ferguson to retire to get the ManU job [-o<\o/

Re: Fergie: Officially Retiring

Because the only thing he's ever won is the old division 2.

You and shaney that are dissing moyes are amazing.

Its not hard to have a bit of vision and foresight on certain things, this is why i find it bewildering that people can be so easily tunnel visioned until the Future grown / evolved from possibilities becomes facts and says hello to your face.

I am making as prediction. if moyes gets the job and he gets the same financial backing as SAF , i bet he wins the league in the next two years.

cant believe people are writing coaches off based on a trophy cabinet with a team thats DEAD broke, in comparison to financial powerhouses from a G14 boys club.

Mate, the most successful manager has had a kings ransom to help him. i mean if mancini can win the league then anyone can.

one thing that you said is very interesting though....and i think that is more worthy of discussion than the trophy thing

That moyes doesnt command the respect he deserves Globally. THIS would be an issue you are right......matter of opinion though cause i think he has the respect of his players. no one bickers about him or the club and he somehow keeps some of his players whom are really sought after

having said that, his name doesnt carry the same weight as As SAF. but i am still hoping that the board and SAF have more vision and trust thier own professional judgement when assessing a coach

i would be disspointed if moyes didnt get it simply because he wasnt a household name. how useless would the selection process be if the money issue extends to coaches too!!!...you won theleague in serie A...you must be a top coach. foget about the fact you were given it by default or that you bought the best players to do it. nope...the guy that works his ass off getting lesser players to overachieve needs to take a back seat in respect

the sad thing is that this is how it actually works LOL

Re: Fergie: Officially Retiring

Forgot to add...

=D> to the most successful manager of any sporting club in the world over the past 25 years. An amazing achievement.

Re: Fergie: Officially Retiring

Times is reporting stocks down 5%. Nothing major and completely expected when someone as important as Fergie would leave

And they are making a prediction that they have not seen enough from Moyes at Everton to show that he would be a success at Man United.

I agree with them to be honest. It'll be a completely different world for Man United and Moyes. He is not a manager who has proven himself capable at the very top.

I'm not writing him off because of his lack of funds at Everton, i'm writing him off because his football philosophy is to not lose.

Re: Fergie: Officially Retiring

Hey guys. Just signed up to say that Mumorn is plagiarizing posts from www.wrestlingforum.com. I think a few others are too...

Don't mind people sharing opinions, but stealing posts word for word is a bit weird and creepy...
