Cherry picking hindsight arguments are quite boring imv.

I first heard about him years ago because Saudi Sportswashing Machine kept bidding and failing to get him. This way way back in 2022 when he was playing in Ligue un for Reims. It felt like they kept chasing him every year since.

I have to admit, I didn’t expect him to develop into the monster he is today

I really wanted Berahino from West Brom..... I was absolutely gutted when Levy fudged up that deal with his usual tactics of bidding way under what the club were asking for the player earlier in the window only to suddenly bid the initial demand (and even a fair amount more than that) in the last few hours of the window. Hindsight shows us it was actually £25m saved!

There is also Van Der Ven, Spence, Dragusin, Udogie, Kinsky and Odobert.

We sign lots of young players. The problem at Spurs compared to Bournemouth or Brighton or Brentford is that the pressure is much, MUCH higher at Spurs. If the manager doesn't have us top 6 (and often even better than that) then he gets sacked. That same pressure doesn't exist at those other clubs I have mentioned so their young players can go in and learn on the job, with results not mattering as much unless it looks like the club will be relegated. Bournemouth went 13 games without a win last year (until they played Thomas Frank's lovely accommodating Spurs team) and nobody was talking about Iraola's head being on the chopping block.

Some of our youth picks would have done much better at those lesser clubs with less pressure and less upheaval and we would be now looking at them saying "yeh they would be worth a poke" after they have done the hard work of integrating them.

These players aren't quite what I was talking about. They are more speculative punts which again I'm fine with. I'm talking about players who are ready to go right now but are a little under the radar. Of the list Gedson and Sarr would be the closest to that, the rest I would put in the speculative punts category.

Not sure with his record in the PL with Palace you can honesty say he amounted to nothing. I would have taken him in a heartbeat in his pomp, he would have been excellent if he could replicate the goals and assists record from Palace.
