***OMT - Tottenham Hotspur v Aston Villa, Sun May 3rd, 7pm, Villa Park ***

Great result. Think Leeds will be a far tougher opponent than Villa were tonight but we are back in the fight.

Some rare praise from me for the commentary tonight. Think it was the first time I've heard some proper discussion and appreciation of our ridiculous injury list and the effect its had on our season.
Karen Carney is very good. Always enjoy listening to her games.

my mate sent me a clip of her talking after the game where she said exactly what I had said many times when we were managed by Frank…. When you are lacking creative players then you have to press high in order to be able to create chances. I have no idea why Frank couldn’t see/execute that.

Because his first thought was always what will the opposition do to us
My nephew has seen some of his uni mates do a study on it at Loughborough for their masters.,,
He is at derby and his piece is on turnovers and distance between players
2 I’d his mates have done their paper on coaching adapting to the opposition
Ftoss ranks highly on that as does Eddie Howe apparently

Very true
But this is like chalk and cheese
The players believe and they know have their own destiny back in their hands
Also actually having tactics helps. Our wingers and full backs used to always be isolated against 2 or 3 of the opposition.(How many times were Spence or Porro shielding the ball in that position)

In our last two matches players seem to always have support. Even Tel could play it inside to the CMs if nothing is on. Night and day different. Frank was turd

I am loving how RDZ is getting into the heads of the players. I love that he isn’t focussing on injuries as an excuse. I love that he is instilling his system into the team rather than just focussing on the opponent’s. But let’s not get carried away. His game relies on high pressing and high energy. Beautiful when it works, like today. However, we are having decent rest periods between games and only PL games to focus on. Let's wait until the team has to play 2 games a week and compete across multiple tournaments as is the ask of all Spurs managers, to judge how successful he will be. But tbh he is absolutely the right manager for us in this moment.

Thought how he used the full backs today was very Ange-esque. They inverted very high up the pitch when we had the ball. Difference was that whenever they went forward Pahlinha sat in and covered.

Worked a treat.

If we stay up we will be playing one game a week pretty much all season. In fact we’ll play less midweek games than we would if were to get relegated

I thought I was getting over optimistic at this point, but you really think we’re in with a chance of qualifying for Europe?

Danso VDV partnership looks so much more stable though

But you have to look further up the pitch at the movement, shape and belief. Gallagher was a pressing harrassing 10 today, winning balls high, Tel and Muani playing with confidence, Bentancur and Palhinha 'allowed' to look through the middle of the pitch, Tel, Udogie and Porro all moving quick and smart, there is crispness and purpose ahead of them which means they are not dealing with nearly as much.
Also, Kinsky has taken on the role Romero had of drawing the opportunity and being able to pass deep/behind. He has been extremely important during this run IMO. It's just not as simple as you put it IMO anyway...

We won the highest number for turnovers of any side this season in a game today apparently
