ENIC

Seeing as Levy had 25 years, I think we might need to give the new decision makers more than just a few months…. They haven’t even appointed a single manager or DoF yet!
Yeah, but they still have ownership of giving him a new formal role and bumper contract

I doubt ENIC made the decision to dump Levy overnight (especially as there was a review months before by the new "non executive director"

Therefore the decisions re Frank, re Paratici and summer signings would have some amount of their approval.

We will revisit this at the end of the window.

Suffice to say, i think it seems you seem to be forgetting a lot of the time (not all) there was as much "ENIC out" sentiment as "Levy Out" sentiment.
Levy was the figurehead of ENIC after all.

If after this window not much seems to have changed, in terms of how THFC operate in the transfer market, then you can guess what sentiment will raise its head over the coming months...
we are still mid table and the last window (huge failure) was probably of levy's making - so i think ENIC will have to show improvements in the 12 months or risk the ENIC out folks coming back

Everything at Spurs is and has been done by committee, Levy would not have considered some decisions had they not been presented to him, for example.

Again Levy was not acting as a broken arrow, Lewis had a direct line in, the financers and legal were appointed with approval by Lewis, the club may have been passed over due to age but lets all stop pretending the transfer of the club was not to stop assets being lost with his legal battle.

Redknapp and Pleat have both given extensive interviews about Lewis involvement over the years

Regardless of histrionics, time will tell if this Lewis/Enic 2.0 is what it is claiming to be and GHod hope they are...................lets see

I am so over it now.

Frank leaves. New manager comes in. And even if we do start playing well. You can bet ya ass the board will find a way to screw over the next one.

If the unthinkable happens and we do go down. Dont see us coming back up

By now there would be a dozen Levy out posts ..

Amazing ..
I understand you have a personal affection for Levy but this is particularly stupid take. It was 20 plus years of failure that built the Levy out rhetoric. It was the continual poor decisions and inability to to take advantage of the sporting opportunities presented to him that allowed that criticism to grow.

You expect Vinai out protests 3 months into his leadership? There weren't any Levy out protests 3 months into reign or even 3 years into it, but if things continue the ENIC out argument will return Nd it won't take another 20+ years for that to happen.

therein lies the issue in our fanbase, we have some who think it was 20 years of failure, and some, like myself, who consider it 20 years of incredible success

This shower better do something notable in the window after all their talk in September. An 18 year old Brazilian left back doesn’t come close to cutting it. If they don’t pull a rabbit from the hat, they can get fudged.

If we continue to operate as we’ve done for 25 years, having fudged the best man to operate that model overboard, ENIC can get fudged as far as I’m concerned.

You dumped Levy, you talked big. It’s now time to brick or get off the pot.

Romero just basically called out the fudging club and multiple players liked it

Here's the actual post that @Raziel is referring to. Looks to me like it squarely aimed at Lange. Remarkable to do this TBH.

On the one hand I wish such things could be done behind closed doors.
On the other hand, I'd say that approach has been tried.
I think he's going to get disciplined by the club personally, because in terms of protocol you can't really do that (this will be all over the media tomorrow) but if it puts pressure on VV or Lange to fudging do something, then great. My rebel side saysd 'fudging good for you El Capitain' my more measured side says it won't help much right now.
I am increasingly sympathetic to Frank. HE'S the one who will have to answer this, and it is NOT his to answer.

So am I mate. I think a lot of the faults the club built up over literal decades are coming to a boil, and not much of it has to do with him personally. The high ticket prices driving out the more vocal (younger/poorer) home crowd, The promises of the stadium being transformational, the years and years of underinvestment/wrong investments, the club's hamfisted communications style and inability to read the room...Frank didn't do any of this.

He's just the guy who has to sit in the glare of the media spotlight and answer for all of it, with Lange, Paratici, and Venkatesham (among others) in hiding. Ange complained about this, Conte complained about this - the manager is called to answer for it all at Spurs, solely because no one else will speak up.

For what it's worth, I'm still of the belief that he's a decent (if not spectacular) coach and an honest, humble person. And I think that's important for a manager. But he was given a timebomb and told to defuse it with a bent fork, more or less.

Coming back to the Romero story, if it prods Lange, Venkatesham, Paratici and (in particular) the Lewis twins into spending some money and fixing the various fires at the back end, some good will have come out of this. Because clearly, it's not just Romero - if half the squad are liking and commenting on that post of his, my intepretation is, promises were made to them that weren't kept.

I am not so sure it's Lange. Let's be honest he could be saying the board is fudged. Maybe someone has made promises they haven't kept. Either way a fine is coming his way. He really should keep this stuff in house.

Also, here's one interpretation of the chronology at play here -

1) Ange heads into the summer of 2024 asking for reinforcements after finishing 5th in his first season - not bad without Kane. He gets one senior player in Solanke, and a bunch of raw kids.

2) We head into January 2025 ravaged by injuries, playing Davies, Dragusin and kid midfielder Gray at center-back every three days. It's clear we need reinforcements desperately. The club does nothing until the very end of January when Dragusin also goes down, after which they finally panic and bring in Danso on loan on deadline day.

3) Somehow, after all this, we end up winning the Europa League, in part because the manager is loved by the players and has a bond with them. A few days after a triumphant and joyful parade, said manager is unceremoniously sacked.

4) The club then talks about ambition and wanting to take the next step, to challenge on all fronts. Goes and hires a mid-table coach in Thomas Frank, who isn't really either charismatic in the Ange style, nor really impressive if you're a player like Romero who has won the World Cup, played with Messi, worked with Antonio Conte, etc.

5) They proceed to get absolutely dingdonged around in the transfer market, losing out in public humiliations when it came to Gibbs-White and then Eze. Somehow managed to pull Simons out of the bag late, to salvage an otherwise torrid window.

6) Window closes and ENIC gives it large about spending, 200m pounds being made available, etc, etc.

7) January window opens, one week in, and we've sold a player apparently popular in the squad in Johnson, and brought in..no one.

I can see why someone like Romero would perhaps be upset, given he signed a contract in between all this. Maybe he was told a change was coming, and that change never did come. But, speculating on my part.
