It was said to death though after the EL win that Levy was now in an impossible situation. I'm not supportive of this decision and I will now be firmly in the Levy out camp going forwards, but the season was full of such massive contradictions that judging it was hard.

What should have happened and hasn't is that emotion, the life blood of football, should have been involved in making the decision. 100% involved. Because as a fan of the club he Levy should still be on cloud nine like the rest of us. This good will should have then enabled us to buy players across the summer that Ange wanted, in order to mount a campaign that would be able to handle 2 major competitions, and an injury rota aligned with the well documented demands modern players have to endure.

Now he has fan and player revolts on his hands, his already low popularity in the gutter and he's somehow managed to ruin the afterglow of a major European triumph for a club that doesn't get them very often.

This is the culmination of Levy's Tottenham. It's a microcosm of his stewardship, and it will define him. People now won't remember Ange winning us the pot, they will remember us being Spurs-y and sacking the guy who did it a fortnight later.

Levy out.
I don't think he has a player revolt on his hands. And what is coming out immediately following this decision in a number of outlets is two clear messages from inside the club that contributed to the decision:
- While Ange remained very popular with the players, he had started to distance himself from them to the extent that his unavailability was starting to frustrate some who were bringing training ground issues to other members of the coaching staff and club management due to the unavailability of the head coach.
- The medical and conditioning team have apportioned blame for the injuries on the coaching team and have produced warnings provided to the coaching team of the unsustainability of sprints endured by the players in training. The reoccurrence of major injuries of Richarlison and VDV are apparently cited by the medical and sports science department as being directly of the result of the coaching team ignoring advice relating the playing limits those players should be subjected to in order to manage recovery.

I will always miss you, big Ange. As that song about Notorious BIG goes - we will always love Big Poppa.

Thanks for the memories. Thanks for the trophy. Thanks for integrating youth. I enjoyed the improvement in youth development.

If Spurs is hiring Frank, someone that is coming from a club that has no proper youth structure, a club that doesn't compete in Europe - I will be very disappointed as I believe he is overrated.

That said, Ange - your name is forever pencilled in history. The first Australian to manage Spurs. The first Australian to win Spurs a trophy. The first manager to win an European trophy for Spurs in the 21st century. The list goes on. Wish you the best in your next role.

And yeah fvck the media.

Small detail missing. The other guy didn't win a major European trophy in the same time too.

Frank isn't progress however you dress it up.
Yeah. Literally the same amount of points during this 'horrendous' period - whilst they get knocked out of cups early, no Europe so we play over half a seasons games more than them, 'master tactician' Frank gets done twice by 'no tactics' Ange, never won a tournament in his life vs the guy who has won everywhere.

I consistently said that I'm ok with Levy sacking Ange if it is for someone who we can comfortably say is better, otherwise I was ok with Ange being given the opportunity to go again. Frank is not that guy and just another hopeful stab in the dark that we've done many times before....

Frank may be the right choice, I hope is, but the idea that he is and is a definite upgrade or that he can do better than any of our recent managers is not backed up with data or logic.

You have to tip your hat to the guy: he made a bold statement saying he usually wins things in his second season and he did. No matter what you think of the competition, being the last team standing in a cup competition is never easy.

Like many people on here, I'm grateful for the pure happiness of winning the EL, even if the ride wasn't that enjoyable on a match-by-match basis (for me, at least). So, yes, thank you Postecoglou.

Having said that, I don't feel sorry at all for him: from his point of view, this was the best possible outcome. He's free to look for a new club on the back of winning a European trophy and where he will be able to work without the baggage of 22 league defeats. That may not be what he wanted, but he will find more and better job opportunities than he would have six months from now, after being sacked mid-season. Of course, he probably thought he'd turn it around, but the kind of turnaround expected was almost unprecedented in history. It relied on the belief that one win could change everything - and maybe it would have, but the safe bet for him is leaving now.

As for us, it all depends on who we get as our new manager and how he does. The new guy will be under pressure from the get-go and he may not be welcomed with open arms by some sections of the fans, but succeeding here has always been a challenge anyway. There's a risk involved with either decision, but I really think we played the safe bet this time.

If we fired Ange to hire Frank then we are real dumb and deserve to be made fun of.
Depends how it goes with Frank. If he sinks then we will be made fun of. If he swims then it will look like the correct decision. Only time will tell. Personally, although I haven't watched much of Brentford, the one thing I'd say if it is Frank is that everyone on here seems to be saying he's more of a Nuno "safety first" defensive manager. So where does that fit in the strategy that was deployed in hiring Ange in the first ace and reiterated in the statement in firing him (i.e. the desire to return to attacking, front foot football)?

Yeah we can only hope, he will certainly have my support. No manager appointment is a guarantee by any stretch as we have seen many times, but given the choice I would have stuck with Ange for the time being. If the stellar choices are Thomas Frank or Silva then fudge me....

I think people will be surprised. I think any competent manager will have this squad top 4 almost instantly
I think you are being unfair. There is no manager with the injuries last season and competing on multiple fronts that will get top 4. Also it seems we are different, I will take a trophy over top 4. You also seem to be overestimating the squad based on what you see now.

We would not have won anything with Frank this year and maybe be 7-8 in the league.
I understand some way we sack Ange and the timing, but I belive he should be given a chance after winning EL.
I see alot say that some of the stars are saying they dont want to play for the club after sacking Ange.. thats not a good sign.

Hmmm I like him… but did he really stick up for us all the time?

The Emirates Marketing Project game comes to mind.
He didn't agree with some of the fans' approach. However if there is one manager who stood up for Spurs consistently and at a level spoke my mind - it was Ange. He pointed out the inconsistencies in reporting. He was ridiculed by some. I would rather back such a manager who does that than smiling with idiots who were attempting to stick a knife in the club's back.

Once more, fvck the English media.

Like the ones who wanted us to lose so arsenal didn’t win the league?
Yep. And I don’t want to go back to that discussion*. Someone else brought it up in reply to where I said that I hope the new manager stands up for the club as well as Ange did. Meaning in comparison to a couple of recent incumbents who gave the impression that we were beneath them.

(* Ange was 1 million% right)
