So, what happened today?

FWIW my youtube feed just popped up a video about why Norway is so rich. They must be listening to us. They claim it started decades before oil was found. They mention loads of mountains, not much arable land etc. so you would think they would struggle. Wealth due to fjords enabling them to cut trees and float them downriver to fjords to sea. Also due to decentralised living (not only 1 big city) which I am sceptical about. Also because they were big on hydro power. Then found loads of oil. Blah blah was quite dull and went on for 40 minutes so I binned it.

Had a lovely day today
Took little one Ten Pin Bowling, Pool & Air Hockey, she twice broke 100 at 8, her best scores ever
Then went to B&Q and brought some flowers, etc to start planting in the back garden
Never had our own garden so was awesome to start this today
Pleased for you mate. Hope you were kind to the staff at B&Q.

Kids love being out in nature, mine got bored of it in the middle years but late teens they start appreciating it again.

Crossing the road to school with my youngest (we live opposite the entrance)
Witnessed a car decide to reverse and miss my mates wife by about 6 inches
The reason they had to do it was a lady had parked across my drive making the road a bottleneck.

I flipped and confronted both of them whilst some people helped the lady who was almost run over. The one across my drive said she always drops her kids off here which made me even angrier. I had to highlight the big signs and road markings saying no parking in school hours

Anyhow after my rant I dropped my son off

Went to collect him at 3.30 and I got stopped by another mum. She said she spoke to the school and they are getting the police involved…

Low and behold I get a knock from a police officer asking me for video of the incident which conveniently I had due to the ring camera

Hopefully it will now stop the idiots parking across the school drive because they bang be asked to get up earlier

Yep. Cars were a mistake from the get go.

Cars used to drive one mile every day because you can’t get your child to school on foot is a worry for me
Yes, that and everything else. Once you break free of carbrain you can see how every single thing in the city is built around them. That is why I applaud places like Paris trying to roll back the mistakes that have been made. Every place you take cars out of is all the better for it.

Have you ever read the manifesto from the Unabomber?
He was a smart guy if clearly a nutter
He said basically we built roads to allow us to leave our homes by car then built towns around those roads so the car become our enabler … or something like that. He was right
Things that we created to make our lives easier become the same things that indirectly destroy our lives

It was a lamb saag
Honestly it was decent
I’m 47
Well travelled and yet have never been
I love British food.. which for me is a curry, pizza, pasta, some Chinese dishes etc (yes I’m being sarcastic)
But it wasn’t good. I’ve had better and I’ve had a LOT worse
I’d go back there with some of my country teams. They would love it
Never knew it was so close to Spitalfields and Liverpool Street. Both places I’ve been too many, many times

Food is OK there, most places are Bangladeshi. I prefer Drummong St for food personally, worth a try if you haven't been. Can get some lovely dosa's. https://www.bbc.com/travel/article/20210907-londons-most-authentic-indian-food

Tried getting some ACDC tickets today for a date in Germany. Queued for one hour and got in just as things were beginning to sell out. Amidst the mild panic of missing out and the sudden addition of extra dates I mistakenly ended up with a ticket for Dresden in June instead of a completely different city in July. Oh well, I can just fly to Berlin and catch a train, straight from the airport to Dresden in 90 minutes, but I was feeling a little stressed there for a moment. Paid 180 euros for golden circle, which means I actually get to see the band. If you want to get on the pitch at Wembley they start at £300 or so. Seats up in the gods are more reasonably priced, but might as well buy the DVD if that's the only option.

Good on you. Sadly the finances and logistics prevented me from even trying to get tickets to any of the gigs, as I wouldn't have been able to go anyway. Would've loved to see them one last time, but that's not to be.

It was my goal for this summer to see them. No other vacation plans. I know it's only Angus and Brian from the regular lineup with Stevie filling in for his late uncle, but the way the shows have sold out it looks like people aren't that bothered about the other members. New drummer and bass player have solid CVs though.

Looks like Wembley had some form of dynamic pricing. Pitch tickets were originally 150, but shot up as demand exceeded supply. Pretty bricky way of doing things.

I snagged 2 for Croke Park.

The videos I've seen from that festival gig last year weren't particularily impressive (thinking Brian's voice), never mind there not being much left of the original members, but if you take it for what it is, it's still a great experience. Saw them on tour last time, and loved it as much as I did when I saw them play with Malcolm 20 or so years ago. I'm sure it will be a great show, which is why I'm so envious, lol.

Dynamic pricing can suck my balls, it's a horrible, greedy concept that I hope will be abandoned or outlawed.

Dynamic pricing? I assume it goes up as the number of tickets decrease (like airline seats). That is not right.

I think prices also increase if demand is high - which for these kind of shows basically means ticket prices will skyrocket immediately after they go on sale.

These were apparently the prices listed earlier this week.

That's how it ended up. The midweek gig is marginally cheaper. Lots of resales available at even higher prices.

From ticketmaster:

Front Pitch Standing Ticket
The Event Organiser has priced these tickets according to their market value. Tickets do not include VIP packages. Availability and pricing are subject to change.

Yeah my parents are elderly and disabled and I look after them so won’t be taking no lessons from you.

The NHS is a complete red herring in this instance. Either it is funded properly or not and if is not then you need to pay more towards it.

That's the elephant in the room, nobody in politics will say it cannot operate without massive increase in funding and that can only be resolved by massive tax rises or making it means tested with those above the limit paying for treatment.

You don't need to increase taxes to pay for the NHS you just need to prioritise it. For a currency-owning country like the UK tax is not how you pay for things. You can just create the money. Tax is only the mechanism to control inflation and even then it is a very crude instrument to do that,

It's just supply and demand, nothing wrong with it at all.

It meant I could get tickets to the Taylor Hawkins tribute that otherwise I'd have missed out on.

Tip for Wembley tickets - always go for the Club Wembley tickets. They sell out much slower than the rest. Or go hospitality - I got AC/DC tickets without any of the fuss and they were less than the surge priced standard ones.
