Farewell GG

This is a shame. When the time came for people to fall on their sword I hoped there would be a vote and we could choose who left

I'm sorry, what? Posters should be able to vote as to which other posters get banned?

Why the need for people to 'fall on their sword'? Is this a football forum or have i missed something?

I think were officially entering the twilight zone.

Humour switch not turned on or too long a time spent with Ze Germans? :D

There are no actual swords, just to clarify :D

I'd change the the thread title... as when I first saw it, I thought the site had closed!

just add the word 'Cruel' between the 'Farewell' and 'GG' bits, and you're onto something!

I have to say, I see where the OP is coming from. Personally not ready to give up the addiction yet, but I post less and I avoid this place for a few days after a loss or poor result.

I really don't know if it's an age thing, but the repeated arguments and wind ups (they are definitely 2-3 WUMs that I suspect are Scum fans that spend a fair amount of time on this forum), along with the basic business ignorance (classic why don't we just spend another 5M and get the deal done) and the perhaps the worst trait of all, the deluded sense of entitlement (this Spurs side should walk 4th/win the league/etc.), is pushing people away.

Still one of the better forums out there, but unfortunately feels like its best days have past ...

There are no thread merges because people can't be arsed to start new threads. I don't actually think the infraction system is the way forward but it is highly irritating when a poster starts a new thread that is interesting, you got to post in it and find that it has been lokced as a mod thinks you should be speaking about that subject in some mega-thread.

Look at the amount of news and discussion for Adebayour alone, that deserves it's own thread. And I'd hazard a guess that we'd be over 100 pages by now and the forum gods would have made him sign already... You people are actually damaging our club. Do I think that it is coincidence that Levy's inability to complete busines has coincided with the advent of Transfer mega threads? Oh no my friend, you people have done this to us.

What would you (and everyone else) think to the mods laying off merging threads a bit but paying more attention to keeping them on topic and issuing infractions for people carrying arguments across threads?

Makes a hell of a lot more sense to me.

Well discussion leads to other topics so pretty much every thread goes off topic. But the petty squabbling and tinkling contests I'd be happy to see stamped out. What say the masses?

So there's people bitching that threads get derailed with OT crap (usually some tactical flimflam gleaned from playing FM) and then there's people bitching that new threads shouldn't be started. Is there a compromise we can come to or maybe have a poll and see what the majority would like to have on GG?

Personally, I'm with Wookie here.
Finally, some people seem to be too sensitive to banter and all that, but I think some people take the insults (even if they are meant to be light-hearted) a bit overboard and are somehow shocked when their overly-aggressive posts are ridiculed. For the newer posters who may not be used to who's normally sarcastic (this is the internet ffs), it can be a bit tricky navigating the pitfalls of a forum with a few bad apples.

imo

I'm not suggesting that we should try to stop conversations flowing and threads developing.

I meant more people popping up in multiple threads to make the same argument against a certain player or the manager etc.
