** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Fulham **

Stand outs for me
bentacur…. MOTM
Richrlasion worked his arse off
Sonny…. So unlucky again
Dier had Mitrovic done when he was on hom
lenglet was very good. Didn’t notice him until he passed it out
Hojberg had a another steady game and a great goal

definitely, what we've seen from Mitrovic this season, didn't notice he was on the pitch until Romero gave him a freebie

Don't think you can blame Royal for that, he was up and down all day today, much improved going forward, wingbacks are going to get caught out of position impossible not to at times.

Thats all on Romero. Didn't he get caught similarly against Brighton last year. To be fair, Mitrovic did well and Romero is travelling but great defenders don't get caught like that. As good as Romero is, and he was excellent other than that 5 minute spell, he has mistakes in him and gets away with it sometimes in a 3 where he'd be caught in a 2. Second time he's cost us this season, thought he was poor for Chelseas second too. If Sanchez does that he's getting pelters on here and I'm leading the charge. Romero needs to cut that brick out.

Thought son was poor, lots of good positions and wasted them with bad passes, poor decisions or dawdling on the ball.

I was logging on to post this as well. People diss Sanchez as if Romero is perfect. Different players, different strengths.

I got tinkled off with Conte today and I am wondering what he is playing at. I look forward to when the CL starts. I am yet to be impressed with his squad management skills. The dude really likes a small squad.

That yellow card for Richarlison has to be rescinded right? When the goal is ruled out him pulling off his shirt is irrelevant?? Or does it stand?

still stands I’d have thought. The card is for taking his shirt off whatever the reason. And there’s no retroactive reviews for yellows anyway.

The rule is yellow for pulling off your shirt. I always thought it didn't matter if you scored a goal or not.

The lack of substitutions is odd.

There was rotation today with 5 chagnes from the game vs West Ham, but really unusual how he doesnt make more like for like subs, just to help energy levels.

Getting run over because of exhaustion. Missing our best players because of injuries. Those are predictable outcomes of not rotating when the fixture list congests.

I haven't seen anyone say that this is likely to be an easy game. Just the acknowledgement that Marseille, City and Sporting won't be easy either.
I reckon Conte will play Bentancur and Hojbjerg and all the usual crew against Marseille and then be astounded when they get tired over the next few weeks

Oh lest I forget the person that tinkled me off the most was the referee. The players were similarly tinkled as well. The dude made some silly decisions.

Just seen the chelsea wham game. Htf is that a foul, should have been 2-2.

Dont know but we took a result off of Chelsea we were lucky to get. West Ham should have conceded a penalty against us. Now the West Ham goal should have counted so everything goes full circle.

Today was much, much better than West Ham, and to my mind there are three reasons for it.
  • Firstly, Romero on the right, Lenglet on the left - having those two over Sanchez and Davies is like night and day in terms of our comfort in playing out and playing through the lines. The last is key - look at how many passes we played today that were on the ground, but direct and right through Fulham's midfield into our forwards - accurate, laser-like forward passes that pushed Fulham back and gave them no time to get tight to our players. We absolutely need ball players at the back for this system to work, and in Romero and Lenglet, we have the polar opposites to Davies and Sanchez. They play.
  • Second, Benta. He came back in and looked monstrously good, sweeping up left, right and center and getting us out of the press with some fantastically easy-on-the-eye shimmies and effective passes.
  • Third, Richy. I think he should have started over Sonny, but clearly the latter has a very long leash with Conte. But Richy got out of a tight corner time, and time, and time again - pressed like a madman, and terrorised Fulham at times with his pace and trickery. What a fudging player.
More of this, please - the less we have to see the turgid lineup of West Ham away, the better. Even Emerson had a good game - still woeful up front, but very good at the back.

We love to make it hard for ourselves, don't we. But that's another three points in the bag, and a bit of encouraging progress in the way we played, and that's the important bit.

14 points from 6 games - that's 2,33 points per game and on course for an 88 point season. That's a great start, really.
