I'd like to sign Krul, we get a good keeper IMO in the reliable Friedal mould and we weaken Saudi Sportswashing Machine.

Overmars named new Ajax technical director

Ajax Amsterdam have named Marc Overmars as technical director to complete their three-man board of directors, the Dutch club said on Friday.

The 39-year old former Ajax, Arsenal and Barcelona player will be responsible for transfers, the club's youth department and scouting. He joins Henri van der Aat and Jeroen Slop on the board of directors.

The appointment of Overmars, who won 86 caps for Netherlands, marks the end of an unsettled period for the champions during which several court cases forced the board of commissioners, including Johan Cruff and Edgar Davids, to step down.

its probably quite an amicable situation really - Levy put his foot down last summer and Luka was made to understand that loyalty and signing a contract works both ways.

Im sure Levy said something along the line of "this season we will ensure CL football" (and we finished 4th - which was been enough most seasons).
Im sure Levy also appreciates Modric wants progression - which is fair enough
And im sure Modric understands we will do what is best for the club but not hold him prisoner

The conclusion to all that of course is - he can be sold for the right price, abroad.
He can progress as he wants - we don't weaken ourselves by strengthening our rivals...........everybodys happy!
