If we got Vertonghen and Adebayor for a combined fee of £12m, I'd fudging cry of happiness.

Yeah, that sum is just too good to be true. Adebayor for £5M? That just sounds far too good to be true. Surely he's price at around £15M after his season with us last year.

I'm surprised at the love for Adebayor, everyone I know done nothing but complain about him. I for one think he was very very hit and miss.

The question is, who could we possibly get who would be:

a) Better
b) Likely to settle in anywhere near as quickly

Marcelo Bielsa is resigning as Athletic Bilbao manager after beating up a construction worker.. they don't call him "El Loco" for nothing

Announce Vertonghen today please, you know you want to Spurs.

£5m for Ade? bite their fudging hands off, the bloke won us 16 points last season (according to SSN)

I think its because our other striker options last season were so poor. For me Adebayor is way too inconsistent. He's seems to have an attitude that he's happy enough whether he's played well or not. He rightly knows there's more to life than football but that's not really what we need from our main striker. I don't think AVB has the man management skills needed to bring out the best in him neither.

Who else can we get thats better, would fit into our wage structure and wouldnt have CL teams after them? Cant think of many (or any)

Lack of competition wouldn't of helped. On his day he's unplayable whilst others he look's like he's not interested.

I think he is rated mainly because of how his game provided the missing link to our attack which had been crying out for a lone striker type under Harry and we improved with his addition certainly the first half of last season.

the probelm will be Ade's reactions when he is not playing well and he is substituted or even left out completely.....AVB, handle with care!!
