At the age of 11, while playing for East London Schools football he was spotted by dingdongie Walker, a Tottenham Hotspur scout. From there Harry grew up in the Tottenham youth ranks playing at Cheshunt, meeting the likes of Bill Nicholson, Dave Mackay and Danny Blanchflower. They should be back top 8 next season under any half decent manager. That is some serious competition just down from the top 4 positions.

I agree. The league was packed with well organised, good footballing teams and every team in the league had a good run of form at some stage, apart from Wolves.

Bruce Forsyth, born in Edmonton, says he supports both Tottenham and Arsenal. He started off an Arsenal fan but Highbury got shut during the war and they played at the lane so he ended up supporting both. He went Tottenham one week then Arsenal the next.

I'm getting tired of it all.
Levy is u happy, however Levy might well be forced to stick in this situation, and if he is, then Harry Redknapp will get my full support for the coming season as I am a supporter of the club more than any single opinion I may, or may not, hold. I will endeavor to wipe the slate clean in my memory of the slump last season, and will judge him on what he DOES not what he DID...what I am hopefully would also happen, in such a situation, is that the manager has learnt from his mistakes.

Now, what say you?

You seem to have your finger on the pulse as to what gooners on the internet think of us (sorry chaps, I don't have the time to monitor that so looking for a bit of education here)...

What I think's funny is that when asked to explain a few points of view, I rarely see a counter-point, discussion. Mick Cooper and Levys Brain have replied with some excellent counters, genuine points of discussion and opinion that make it a fine discussion. Such a shame others can't.

Oh leave him Parklane, he's having fun trawling the internet looking for piccies to post and feeling above it all...the fact is here mucking it with us thick common-folk means he loves us really, it's quite cute in it's own way...

I genuinely hope he has the chance to one day say "I told you so"...I would love to be wrong about Harry and Spurs. Really. Nothing would make me happier than for Harry to place a pan of scrambled egg on my face...I am, after all, a Spurs supporter...but I sadly think we know how it will end regardless of staying/going/whatever...

my reaction was to the hypocracy of the poster.

From my POV the most saddening thing about all of this, is that there are many people who seek to justify the expulsion of HR on the grounds that they don't like him personally - despite never having met him, for reasons that they fabricate and for footballing reasons that they espouse, despite having no track record of achievement or proof that their "system" will work.

I have no issues with people prefacing the denigrations of his abilities with statements like "if I were manager - I would have" etc but its the absolute certainty that their opinion is 100% correct and that the man is retarded.

Top it off with the people who find offence in everything he says and you end up with a sea of irrationality thats hard to comprehend. (ie his grammatical ambivalence to using the word we when discussing anything Tottenham???)

Now I realise that not every "anti" poster demonstrates every one of those foibles but after a while it becomes hard to set some of them apart, and then tangential slanging sessions begin, which rarely get resolved amicably, and all of the time, they hysteria over his behaviour mounts.

Not long ago he was castigated for having remained silent since the end of the season, and the "fact" that he should be being more publicly active in signing new players - WTF?

You are much more rational about all of this, and the sanity of your posts are getting lost in the cacophony of hyperbole and gonad*s that is trotted out on a daily basis

What next, criticisms of his pyjamas?

This is it - if we give him the credit for the excellent run of 10 wins in 11 games, we say that was an excellent period and credit goes to him because of it. Then we also have to say that the run of 2 wins in 9 games or whatever it was was a very poor period and is also down to him. So putting them together, combining the excellent and very poor ratings, he averages out to someone that has done a decent job.

But that's if you choose to rate it like that, which I don't think is the right thing to do. I would never, and have never said during debates on here, that Harry was totally responsible 100% for the 10 wins in 11 games. He is the football manager of the club and therefore has some input, sure. He prepares the team. He picks the team. He stands on the touchline and shouts instructions at the team. And that sometime can have an effect. Infact a lot of time that can have an effect. But I don't think it's realistic to say 'the great run was down to Harry'.

The great run is down to Harry partly, but also the players. But also the coaches. But also the form of each individual. But also the fixture list being a bit kinder. But also because of luck. But also because the ball bounced kindly for us in certain games.

Therefore, the great run isn't totally down to him. And the poor run isn't totally down to him either. It's down to all of those things above, and this time they are going against us. So he's partly culpable, but also players are missing easy chances, but also confidence is low, and inspiration to carve a defence open is missing. Also England speculation is hanging over the club having a draining effect. Also because of injuries. Also because we have bad refs or the ball doesn't bounce our way.

Overall, he did a decent job. Personally I think if the England speculation never happened, we would have been comfortably in 3rd. But he's neither totally responsible for the good run or totally responsible for the bad run. He's the manager, and they can have a big say, but there are other factors. As he did a decent job (I'm not saying great or excellent) and considering we had extraordinary luck against us as well as speculation that also wouldn't happen in any other season from now on, levelling it out I'd say I'm happy with him because of my belief that we could have easily been comfortable in 3rd if things weren't so against us. And also, I don't believe there's another manager out there that is going to overcome our financial constraints and have us finishing in the top 3 consistently going forward any more than Harry could achieve it. Maybe the odd one, but maybe Harry could get the odd one too. Consistently, we have been top 5 under Harry. If we can be consistently top 6 until the new stadium comes around, then that will be good for the club.
