We were knackered all of last season. The WC fudged us and we had no pre-season. I don't think that form carries over from one season to the next. We are just having our typical slow start.

If form does not carry from one season to the next how do bookies price up odds?

Not being sarky a genuine question, I trade on betfair and dont really get going till start of October but even now in August I am looking at matches and pricing into my thoughts their form on last year.

I’d be defending Poch for the same results too if it looked like anything had changed, but we look just as clueless as last season.

A full pre season and no outgoings from the regular players, not sure there is any excuse for it.

The second half of last season I had doubts if the players were as knackered as was made out, Wolves at Wembley over Xmas was down to fatigue unquestionably for me, yet we then bounced back at Cardiff what two or three days later with a good performance, what’s concerning is exactly as you say this season is the same as all of 2019, even though we usually start slow and build into the season by November we still played with a identity a clear game plan, I haven’t seen any identity or game plan in 9 months, it looks like 11 random blokes thrown together, I gave a big pass last week with no bricks given about the performance because of who we played and where and anything from there is a bonus, but we just literally threw that bonus point down the drain.

Based on what bets are being placed

We looked clueless. We made it easy for Saudi Sportswashing Machine.
I love Harry Winks but my ghod he was so pedestrian. Being adventurous meant passing it sideways to Rose instead of the usual sideways pass to KWP. I get why we pass sideways, but do it at least with some element of speed. Saudi Sportswashing Machine just had to move as a block from side to side.
All our attacking played on the pitch and nothing to show for it. Abysmal.

Exactly Liverpool still play the same way yes they have better players, Leicester went back to playing their style and their results improved. Whatever team it is, a team knows how they play, we have had an identity for a few years and we have now lost it, that usually happens when a manager leaves not when he is wanting to leave.

The thing as well is other teams have not figured us out, it’s all self inflicted, you can tell when a team has been neutered by the opposition or when a team has just underperformed, it’s been nine months of tinkering with formations, starting 11’s and even where players are playing in the formations.

Fair play @Greg

You should start all of your Saudi Sportswashing Machine OMT’s on here too.

The better team won, and when was the last time Saudi Sportswashing Machine were the better team?

(Almost certainly the previous Spurs game right)

He's clearly been frustrated by the lack of signings, our rebuilding started a year later than he wanted because we couldn't shift players he didn't want, most of which are still at the club.
I assume he was involved in the decision to spend £60m on Sissoko. If so, he's at least partly to blame for being unable to shift him the following season

I haven't heard anything about wanting to shift him but he clearly wanted to sell Rose, Alderweireld and Dembele in summer 2018.

To be fair it was only £30m, but that was before PSG broke the transfer market with Neymar, so that £30m would be the equivalent of about £75m now.

You're right. I've argued the cash Vs inflation point about him so many times I just immediately think of him as £60-80m now.

We tried to shift him all last summer, then he got in the team by default by just about every midfielder being injured at once.
