*** Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester's 2nd club United***

Lets hope we sign Sessegnon. Or bring Rose back into the fray.

On the right, I have high hopes for Foyth. If we don't sign anyone at RB, he'd be my choice.

He is good enough.

I concede that a player can be "good enough" without be very "very good". The phrase "good enough" reminds me of people describing the ability of a player as follows: "he can do a job".

I can assure you I will be behind Davies like I always am, however I must confess the thought of him being our first choice left back for the season leaves me underwhelmed.

Quite positive game all in all even though we lost. Some individual errors and players unlikely to feature much making most of them.

Thought Parrott stood out, looks way older than he is just watching him play. Seems to have a good understanding of the game, good link up play, good close control and managed to keep up physically.

Ndombele still seems to have some work to do, but a good half for him to learn. A lot of our first team players progressing well I think. Good to see Eriksen show a bit of class.

Regarding our formation it would seem strange for Pochettino to use the diamond this much in preseason if he's not planning on using it quite a bit when the season starts. We might be able to make it work with our midfielders.

Same for me. Davies would have been perfect for us in the Jol/Arry days but we’ve moved on since then and we’re a better side. We have to compare our players to our rivals and fellow title contenders. Don’t think any of our full backs would get into Emirates Marketing Project or Liverpool’s teams but Rose would be the most likely for me. Davies is the perfect back up player, he’s just not the level we are at or what we aspire to be at in my view.

Which left backs in the league are significantly better than Davies?

For some LOL material: Are Spurs the dirtiest club in the league?

Sissoko is a thug and Alli a "subhuman rat bastard".

visiting Liverpool fan said:
Not only are they the dirtiest but they love to cheat. Their diving is on another level to everything.

Lamela and especially Kane and Dele are horrible. Then they have the cheek to talk brick about Salah.

Kane is giving Suarez a run for his money.

My point is not him progressing but Spurs

If we lose Rose who is by far our best LB and left with Davies that's not progress as it should be

I don’t wanna lose Rose
I genuinely think he is the best around still (better defender than the lad at pool)
But who knows what the master plan is

Mendy? And Shaw? You got to be joking! I'll give you Robertson. The others are seriously debatable. Suggesting Shaw and Mendy are better than Davies is ridiculous!

Robertson, Mendy( maybe) i will give you but as for the others not a chance.
Mendy hasn't really showed anything in the PL. Flashes yes, but very inconsistent. Davies has been solid for years and is very very dependable. Rarely injured, good at defending, decent going forward, rarely makes mistakes. He's our Irwine type player.

Each to their own. You’ve said yourself Davies is “solid”, “dependable” etc. My point is we need better if we are going to catch Liverpool and Emirates Marketing Project. I don’t think Davies and KWP/Foyth is going to cut it.

So from that I assume you’d say Davies is one of the top 3 left backs in the league? I wouldn’t even put him in the top 5 personally. Top 10 definitely but he’s not an elite full back.

Mandy when fit is the best attacking left back in the league ... but I don’t think he will get properly fit again

Shaw is jus5 bang average and hyped after one decent season. Really nothing special

I'd say Chilwell is pretty decent so probs edges it. Robertson over Davies. Shaw nope, fat and looks as though he should be fat, but he isn't.

Can't think of any other decent left backs. Ah yeh the chelsea killer clam he's good too but had a ropey season last year I think.
