Yep thats it and if you are an average player the Authorities have no problem pulling you accross hot coles for it.

You look at Barton, who got 18 months reduced admittedly to 5 months for betting on football, now I know the affect of corruption on sport is taken seriously but should it be taken anymore seriously than racism which is an offence away from the sport when betting isnt? John Terry got 4 game ban, 4 games for racism, then once a year the FA have the nerve to have Kick it Out day and dress the players up in shirts and say how bad it is for the game. Suarez got 8 games, again laughable.

Its hard to get up for the sport that does not respect itself enough to take action.

Quite.

Suarez and Terry should have had lifetime bans at all levels of the sport. When the FA, the PL, UEFA and FIFA all failed to do what they should have, Victimpool and Chelsea should have stepped up. Obviously those hideous clubs never would though.

Was talking to a group of 5 City fans (down for a week on a job at Heathrow) who no longer go to watch them because of financial imbalances with club.
They think the “club they used to support is dead”.
Quite surprised me.

The point made in the podcast is that the Emirates Marketing Project of old has been dismantled and on top of the remains, Abu Dhabi have built a football entertainment unit tailor made to detract attention from the fact that they are an unjust regime with no regard for human rights or human decency.

I hope I would have the integrity to do the same if something similar happened to Spurs. Or better, to organise protests against said owners of my club.

Unfortunately You're in the minority, most "fans" want to win something at any cost, this mentality has been lead by the media who treat winners as gods and losers as mugs, money has taken the fun out of the game. I dont go to games to see us win I go for a bit of a laugh with my family and friends, I want us to win every game but its not the end of the world if we lose, if I felt like that I'd have stopped going years ago.

One of the reasons why Guardiola is a bit of a qunt imo. He'll have his little yellow ribbon on to support a political cause he believes in, but is happy to turn a blind eye to where the money is coming from when it comes to his wages and the success of his team. It's not like his choice is be Emirates Marketing Project boss or work in a factory, most of us would sell out if that was the case. He could manage any club he wanted, but he chose to go there, knowing what it's all built on -- and then tries to present himself as a man of the utmost integrity. I don't like Mourinho, but at least he doesn't try to pretend he's not a d1ck.

The game needs to be purged of the Middle-Eastern and Russian crooks who have hijacked it.
 
And I don't particularly blame City fans for enjoying the ride -- easier said than done to stop supporting your club, it's in your blood isn't it? They get to watch a great team and stick it up rivals who have been utterly dominant over them for a few decades. If similar happened to Spurs, I don't think I'd stop supporting Spurs, I couldn't. And who wouldn't enjoy smashing Arsenal and winning everything in sight after enduring the 90s and early 2000s? Deep down, we might know it's all bullsh1t, but never admit that to them!
 
City are a shell company not a football club!
Just a vehicle for UAE oil money.
Should be playing in the Emirates not the EPL.
Sky are running thier PR department for them as I type.
City are irrelevant as far as real football, just like PSG are.
 
I’m really surprised more hasn’t been made of the leaks. It’s like everyone wants to turn a blind eye.

We all know they got where they are through oil money, but it’s the stuff like paying Mancini through two different contracts, majorly inflated sponsorship deals, all of the stuff where almost every other club will have tried to adhere to the rules and play by the money that is on their books...and they haven’t had to do that. How can this be ignored? Through those actions, they will have been able to spend more on wages and more on transfer fees and increase their chances of winning games. The time they’ve spent in the CL through those means has mean that other clubs haven’t been able to enjoy the fruits of those rewards too.

I really think this isn’t a shrugging of the shoulders matter. Something should be done. I don’t agree with Duncan Castles on much as his constant defence of Jose is a little sickening, but he has written some good stuff on this.

I also completely agree with the poster above saying Pep is a bit of a qunt. He denies the idea of tactical fouling because he wants to present himself as the purest form of football coach, whiter than white (even Poch has admitted stealing certain advantages within the bounds of gamesmanship) and yes, comfortable supporting causes in public and willing to turn a blind eye to what’s going on with the source of City’s money, and success.

Ah yes, I'd forgotten he said that the other day. Absolute bullsh1t isn't it? All teams that play high up the pitch will do tactical fouls to prevent counter attacks. We do it, Liverpool do it and Emirates Marketing Project do it, lots of others too. I guess, technically maybe he doesn't tell his players to do it -- he just picks people like Fernandinho who will do it constantly and then not tell them to stop doing it. But I don't believe that either, he's a control freak. So if his players do something regularly, you can bet that it's part of the plan.

There’s footage on the Amazon documentary of Arteta telling them to foul when they lose possession. It’s fine - as you say every team that presses high does it - but Pep’s incessant desire to be seen as the purest guy in football sure is grating.

On the other hand...Mata having a go at Sterling for showboating? Bore off you hypocritical douchebag. Fine for you to claim to all hell that the ball crossed the line in an FA Cup semi when it didn’t, but not fine for Sterling to do a step over when holding the ball in injury time, two goals up? And Pep actually reprimanding Sterling for it? Ugh, pathetic.

There's a long standing method available for dealing with players that are taking the tinkle like Sterling was. If Mata were really that upset he'd have dealt with it and taken the red that goes with it.

Mata's a clam anyway - was sat on the bench laughing and joking with the rest of the subs whilst his team was getting embarrassed by their rivals on the pitch. Classless prick.

Honestly?

Im not sure Id ever stop supporting, but my interest would drop out completely.

I think the thing with City, with Chelsea, is they arent "City" or "Chelsea" at all. Something unnatural happened to them and they are no longer the clubs they were. They are something new, and different.

In a similar way to MKDons, it was a new club - and people either went with it or they didnt. I see it in a similar vein.

Would I enjoy watching top football at Spurs? Of course. Would it mean anything to me? No, it wouldnt.

As noted above, City are now an entertainment franchise, not a football institution.

So I would enjoy Spurs in the same way I enjoy Marvel movies and theme park rides. Fun but ultimately meaningless.
