Summer 2018 transfer thread

Remember the best transfer window ever? Seven signings! My word, it was beautiful! But what a letdown it turned out to be in the end. Eriksen and Lamela came good, of course, but Jesus. We'd be over the moon with a window like that, but it wouldn't necessarily be great for the team.

Since they took away Roman's visa, he's not let loose the petro dollars. Can't blame him! But they will have a windfall from selling Courtois and be able to fund purchases. Are they becoming like us? Never original are they the chavs.

Also no one seems to factor the players and agents into this downward spiral of negativity we call a transfer window.

What if the targeted players and their money grabbing agents are the ones that are causing the delays by waiting to see if a club is going to come along and offer higher wages, a bigger sign on fee, a bigger agent bung, or is a bigger club (3 of the above are why Lollerpool can do their business early.

If I was a players agent I know I would be advising my client not to make a decision until he had exhausted all of the available offer/options looking for the best package and only then would I advise my client to sign.

Unfortunately this year that decision deadline is even nearer the end of the EPL window than normal.

No one factors them in because they are just an accepted part of football, and have been for three decades at this point.

I mean, Levy not understanding that agents exist seems pretty unlikely, even for him.

Nooo not Levy, us lot, the punters, the fans.

We all go on about signing this one or that one and getting the hump when it goes to the wire or doesn't happen, what I'm trying to say is, what if it's not Levy's fault but simply that we are not the first choice for a lot of the players we are after and they want to hang on until the last possible minute for a better offer to come along
