Liverpool have always spent more and spent earlier than us every season. But we've finished ahead of them something like 9 out of the last 10 seasons.

New players shouldn't be playing in the first few weeks anyway. If you are a good side they emerge gradually over the first few months

a full pre-season would help that.

Mopo has said he wants players in earlier and I imagine his gamble comments had that in mind as well.

A couple of weeks in the US with the first team will the improve the odds on the player having a good start with us.

The World Cup will delay signings as well.

That's why we signed Moura in January - six months early

Our other signings are just like-for-like replacements to cover the potential departures of Alder, Rose, Dembele and Llorente. Dembele was the only one of those who was a starter for most of last season, but Dier, Wanyama and Winks should all be fit for the start of the season.

Why are we against signing players who can start in the 11?

The team needs to improve on last year.

6 months to be ready to play/start meaningful games is to much.

Will be interesting to see who leaves them now

Mane being talked up to go to Spain and he would be a loss

Fekir is a good player but not a workhorse type and needs to play central from what I’ve seen

Mane was rumoured to be going to Real but that isnt happening because Zidane has left apparently....
 
Only start worrying about Liverpool if they sign a top keeper and centre half to play with VVD. otherwise it will be same old Liverpool. Great going forward, horrible defending.

They could do with a top keeper but since VVD theyve been fine defensively. They conceded only two more goals than us, so unless you think we have an issue....

fair but if he gets injured they are buggered. Ifwe lost say vertonghen our best cb, youve got dier, sanchez, toby.
