I think these two are related. The bottling aspect appears because Spurs haven't won anything under Poch, whilst Utd, Chelski and Arse have all won something in the meantime.

Yes we know to be where we are challenging with our budget is simply remarkable and the media do not highlight this aspect enough, but what can we do. Just take it on the chin I guess.

I have often thought this, but quickly banish it because there's no point. What I will say is that if we speculate down that road, I wonder if we'd have been able to still get top 4 given the drop-off.

Well the fans must take some of the blame. Knee-jerking in his direction has been ludicrous IMO, and we had people questioning his "project" and even whether he had "hit a wall"...I think he (quite rightly) is making sure people fully, fully recognize the achievements he has had here, top 3 three seasons in a row despite financially being a one-legged man in an arse-kicking contest. I have found it bizarre. And I think he is somewhat defending himself/promoting himself, which he has most certainly earned the right to do. I think it is amazing how little respect he is getting in the media generally, and to see many of our own take him for granted and enjoy the half-empty glass is really poor form IMO...

I absolutely agree with this. I think, on balance, this is not a case of him taking us as far as he can. He’s taken this group as far as they can go.

The lack of appreciation from the media and some of our fans is wrong. If you’re in Pochs shoes you must be thinking “I’m working miracles here and getting a bit of grief. What the fudge will happen if things stay the same and I finish 5th or 6th?”

I posted somewhere in the last 24 hours that he has had firm plans for a while about what he wanted to do based on CL qualification, and those include a shake-up in a couple of key areas. Make no mistake, he believes we are very, very close to a big trophy. I think if we give him what he wants we will get silverware next season.

From what I see of the British media, and I see quite a bit. They wont be happy until he leaves for Utd or even better in their eyes Chelsea . The idea of him staying at Spurs and actually winning the league or Lord forbid the CL does not fit their narrative. I can imagine the howls of outrage when we open the new Stadium next season, the media and pundits are not going to be happy for us.

The media are lazy and just repeat what someone has said before them. That is why they did not see the rise of UKIP and then Corbyn. The media have an agenda of sorts against in that they will always talk us down but only because they do not have the creativity to actually have genuine thoughts. It is why so many reporters are on twitter these days. They are immersed in tech and have forgotten how to think.

I dont' think that hey have got it in for us, but we have disrupted the established order of things and whilst folk know that the new Stadium is coming,it will put us in super club league. When they actually walk round it, that fact will dawn upon certain folk in the media. I don't think that the media generally like us as a club or recognize what Poch has achieved on such a small budget/ net spend. there was a brief love -in a couple of seasons ago but once it became clear that we would not revert to the mean and that the Stadium would become reality the narrative changed. Wembley Hoodoo, Kanes leaving, Poch is leaving etc. They are confused , long may we continue to prove them wrong

I know where you are coming from!
There are some pundit who are less than keen on Spurs.
But as a fan base we do think the worlds got in for us!
There are also quite a few pundits in the UK who are very complementary about us!
I think we Spurs fans are very over sensitive at times!

Exactly. Fans of other teams think the media love us. A lot of them (Jenas, Harry, Neville, Keane) have been very complimentary of us. The media’s agenda is to sell papers/get hits/get viewers not to talk down Spurs.

You forgot two of my personal favourites Souness and Strachan!
Even Mers and the rest on Saturday afternoon mob are mainly pro Spurs

The only pundits who imo love having a dig at Spurs are Shearer and Keown. The majority of the rest have only good things to say about what we are doing.

Posted more or less the same a few weeks ago in reply to some of our fans who were pointing the finger at Poch, if anyone has let us down it is some of the players who have stared to believe the headlines about how good they are. Now we have some great players, some good players and some who are carried along with the team.

Now i hope those players start to relise that we/they have won nothing yet.

I did have a chuckle at Shearer when, following Juve, he said "If Mourinho was managing Spurs, there is no way that they'd have gone out of Europe." The very next week Sevilla knocked United out.

Sadly, United beating us in the semi final sort of gave his point some credibility but he's still a clam.

Mate, I hope you're right. I really do.

No player involved in the World Cup is going to talk transfers between then and now. But I wonder if there are any decent Dutch or Italian players out there who might. Perhaps we should just raid Ajax!

Saw the quotes again just now but without any surrounding article - they read much more positively like that i think and is actually quite encouraging in light of recent debate over whether Poch has hit a ceiling/is the man to take us forward - to me this is him saying he isn't finished with this team and he wants to improve us further still.
