As they average above 2 points per game, we need to be next to flawless and beat them head to head to catch up. And that is catching up only. This year we've been good at Wembley against good opposition, so it is still all in our hands. It is the flawless part we're struggling with. Then again our opponents have improved this season, while we haven't. Last year we won against chelsea. This year we lost. Man U and Emirates Marketing Project will this year be tougher at home.

Wait until May. That is my advice. I am enjoying the Liverpool love-in as it ignores a massive flaw they have, which is a lack of deeper football intelligence. They nearly threw it away against a poor City side because they cannot slow a game down and squeeze the life from it when comfortably ahead. Like a certain side did when they were 4-1 up against a top 4 competitor. Pace and power is not necessarily enough. I look at our squad and I see more basic intelligence and game management. Compare Liverpool man for man with our side and there is not one I would swap. So hang steady mate...

Is the Wembley factor really hurting us? it might surprise a few to learn that we've only bettered our current home points-per-game average (similarly our goals for and against per game as well) once in the 5 seasons before this one and that was last season at Fortress WHL. If anything, it's our away record, relatively speaking, that's let us down so far this term (currently our second-worst points average over the same period). There's not a great deal in it, mind you. We've actually been remarkably consistent over the period in question. It's probably also worth remembering that, as well as we have done ourselves over the past few seasons, and as high as expectations have risen as a result, our final league position has arguably been boosted as much by one or more of the usual suspects having underperformed at the same time. That's looking a bit dicier this time out, but if we don't get top 4 again this season, it won't necessarily mean we've gone backwards.

Absolutely. Except with Emirates Marketing Project I KNEW it was their worst game of the season, that for whatever reason they were not handling the ball with anything like their usual care and that Liverpool were playing at pretty much their maximum. Honestly, there is no reason whatsoever we should not win at Anfield. If we are smart, do what we do well and have our first 11 starting, we will win.

Seems to me games like this are often (though not always) decided by the difference in intensity and resolve displayed by the winning side from the outset. You can usually see it in the way the team that's more determined goes about harrying the opposition with such intensity they throw them off their stride. City and Arse both did it to us earlier in the season. Not saying we did not also show resolve, just that they definitely seemed to want it that much more.
So for me, if we are to stand a chance of getting all three points at Anfield that will be the key. We will need to outfight them from the off and then outplay them on top of that. Problem is for whatever reason it's something we invariably fail to do at their gig, whether it's nerves or what I don't know.
All I do know is that without that prior resolution to show totally superior intensity we are a beaten side even before we take to the pitch.

I can see us beating United and Arsenal and losing at Liverpool and Chelsea like we nearly always do. Means we have to pretty much win every other game in the league which to be fair we are more than capable of doing.
Of course it is hurting us, home advantage is a very real thing in football and we are no longer playing at our home - even if we're over the worst of it now you only have to look at our early results/performances to see something wasn't right - no shame in accepting that.
Exactly. They are better attacking side than us, and Van Dijk will provide a more solid base to their defence. If we finish ahead of them we would have done very well....
We've lost once at 'home' this season. We have drawn too many games we should win which isnt the first time this has been an issue. You can claim we aren't playing at home all you like, when you have 70,000 plus fans supporting you on a pitch thats a real advantage no matter where you are playing....

They’re 3 points ahead of us, I think it’s a bit OTT to be so adamant on how much better Utd, Pool and Chelsea are than us. I think we are ticking over quite nicely right now personally, the league was never on with City spending what they have. Let’s see where we are in a couple of months.
If you want to believe that playing away from home for a season has had no negative effect on our performances or results then that's entirely up to you but i would suggest it's a case of whatever the opposite of rose tinted glasses are to be frank

You cant simply say we are playing away from home when you have 70,000 plus fans cheering you on, youre just looking for excuses. We've only lost one game at Wembley in the league this season, funny how our actual away record doesnt look anything like that....
Well yes you can because it's a fact
And applying context is not the same as looking for excuses - especially in this scenario where we are playing in a temporary home ffs which is a monumental shift in routine - you can't just ignore that.
