XMAS party thread

Been to any yet?

We are having our first big party at the new house, putting up the decorations and tree at the moment. Should be a good day 30 people been invited expect most to turn up. Doing a good spread and lot of booze and music should be a good do.

Had to go on the wife's work do and it was a gastro pub called the woodsman in Sussex, nice enough food but I never like sitting with people I do not know and having to make conversation with them, difficult because they were all social care workers with no interest in football. Apparently there husbands did not have to go but as she is the boss and wants to see more "human" it was deemed I had to go. Not sure how me being anywhere would make anyone seem more human.

We have here lot over from Ireland this year for Christmas so a busy few weeks. This time of year can **** me off but I also like having an excuse to catch up with family and old friends that I reckon I would probably lose touch with otherwise.

Had mine in Cirencester last night. Our office is in Luton, but head office is in Gloucestershire so the company hired a coach that took us to the hotel where the party was, all rooms paid for by the CEO and an open bar all night :eek:k: He also gave out an iPhone 6 to one male and female who won a competition on the night. Party finished at 1am, went on to a club after that. Got back to my room at 4am. All in all, a very good night!

Our office christmas party is a james bond theme... not fancy dress but like a dinner and casino (not a casino but tables will be set up night in a hotel in park lane (it shall be unnamed)... on the 19th. Free drinks, free dinner, sure there will be shenanigans...

Cant wait as the following day off to Montreal.

Our Xmas do is in the local village hall and the theme is ...... Mexican.

Nothing says Xmas like a sombrero and fake moustache.

Could be the worst party of all time actually.

Is it the norm for parties to be paid for by the individual nowadays? I see this is gradually creeping into companies

Mine was yesterday. Fun times but I did get slaughtered. Gaps in my memory. Random bruise on my leg. Hope I didn't do anything too silly..

I've never had that where I work but I hear it regularly from friends, I suppose it depends on the size of the company or group who's going

Not going up to Tottenham after my xmas party again, had to get up 7.30 am after getting in at 1am ,spent 5 hours on a bus then another hour to get to the Lane then another 20 mins sorting my ticket out at both ticket offices.....got into the game at 3.05......frigging knackered.....but was only twenty yards away to see Lamela score his 'Bale' goal..........made up for it.....

Having a small party. Got a small turkey - 4.5 kgs.
The turkey will be different from what you guys have.
Made the marinate: melted butter mixed with paprika, chilli powder, cumin, garlic, black pepper, coriander & sea salt.
Have put this marinate under the skin and inside. now in the fridge.

Will make a very Oriental stuffing in the morning:cooked spicy rice, mushrooms, bean sprouts, fresh coriander, onions, soy sauce & some whole jalapeno peppers.

Getting 2 couples, Danish & English, who are back in their houses for their usual October to March visit.

I will make some Pimms ****tails for the ladies, and mean bloody mary for everyone.
Ice cold lager will be the main guys drink .

Merry Xmas to all you guys.

sorry, only just saw this. we don't pay for our own christmas do's. the other one was just my boss taking a few of us older members of staff out for a freebie on top of the normal do.

I think in smaller companies yeh, my company gives us the choice of going on one you pay yourself or not having one. We are ok with that because we know how much our boss puts in to the company and its a real team effort.

The corporation I work in has an xmas do that costs me £10. Includes a three course meal, as much wine as I can drink, brandy, coffee. Can't complain tbf.
