Who would you have ahead of him now? Do you think we are going to sign 2 CFs? Even one? Or just SSDD
 
I think the narrative about our academy shifts now. It is something like...

The previous narrative was that Spurs had a very good academy but blocked the path for the youngsters when they got near the first team. They never got the chance to succeed or fail fast. Therefore younger players don't want to be at our club and choose to move away if they even join us at all.

Then we won PL2 and invested in a load of young guns.

The new narrative is that Spurs haven't got a great academy at all. They only find youngsters who get to a decent level but cannot make it through the last mile to top 4 PL level. They do however have a decent academy and can turn a profit on the process because they do invest in younger players and flog them.

Will we though? Because at the moment it looks like we are going to be condemned to 8 goals a season Richy and 6 goals a season Solanke, because we can't get their wages off our books.

The problem is we are selling the ones with the chance of making it (Vuskovic, Bergvall and Lankshear), not just the ones who don't (Dorrington, Phillips, Veliz, Scarlett), because we are short of cash and have too many bed blockers we can't get rid of

You know how old Kane was when he scored ‘that’ goal v Villa that really started his career for us? 21 years old and 3 months. Before then there had been talk of selling him, people weren’t convinced etc

You know how old Lankshear is now?

By then Kane had already scored about half a dozen goals for us across 13/14 and the start of 14/15. Prem, Europa, the cups.

That goal v Villa was what catapulted him above the likes of Adebayor and Soldado into being our first-choice striker, but he had already reached the first team by then and was considered a decent backup.

Lankshear isn't at that stage yet. He's scored a few for Oxford and (iirc) one for us. That's not to say he won't make it at the top, but it's a little easy to say he's the next Kane just because of his age.

To me it's likelier that the club have decided to hang on to Solanke and Richy - Melia's probably a consideration for 2-3 years down the line, if at all.

I'm not fussed if we do stick with Richy and Dom - they're not spectacular, but neither are any of the options on the market right now. More important to strengthen everywhere else, so when we look again next year (and with Richy's contract having ended), we could potentially get a blockbuster striker as the finishing touch on an already good side.

There's one downing beers in Bavaria that might be up for it.... ;)

Including the ones that didn’t rate Kane when he was there including Leicester and Norwich
Kane is a one season wonder though, it’s just every season

That bed blockers comment is what bothers me
We have so many players who we cost here now and they are costing us in many ways
