When was the last time we were top of the League/ EPL?

IIRC we were top of the league in August 2009. Pretty sure I remember us getting a good start that season, and being at Doncaster on the Wednesday night singing we were top.

That's because Arsenal had a game in hand which they played at a much later date but your site includes it as if they played it when it originally should've been. For example, go to round one of the 11/12 season where we were due to play Everton but it was called off because of the riots and we ended up playing it in January, yet that site has us down as three points with a 2-0 win after round one, when really it was more like round 20.
 
Were top after 3 games into 99/00 and also 4 games into 02/03. Possibly also 2 games into 05/06. None of these really mean anything though

You are right. We were top 23/8/2009..Arsenal had only played 2 games.
 
Weren't we in first place after beating Manure 4-1 on New year's day 1996?

Edit: Probably not the last time we were top, but definitely the last time we were top at that stage of the season.

imagine going into the Chelsea game at WHL 2 points clear at the top of the table!

Would just need Arsenal to draw/lose.

Don't forget that we do need to win too though. Might not be as easy against Cardiff as we would like it to be.

This was the weekend I was thinking of. Went to Donny in the League Cup a few days later (5-1) and I can remember us singing we were top of the League.
IIRC Bentley had just had a bump in his car a few days earlier and he got some friendly stick too. Top night out
