Spurs tried to sign Kovacic
Tottenham tried to sign Mateo Kovacic during the summer, Real Madrid general director Jose Angel Sanchez has revealed.

The Croatian midfielder had a tough first season at the Bernabeu but has grown in influence since.

Spurs were keen to add to their squad this summer and attempted, unsuccessfully, to prise him away from Madrid.

“Kovacic is not for sale, we will never sell him,” said Sanchez.

“If there are any offers for him in January, we will reject them. Last summer there were a lot of offers and questions about him.

“Juventus and AC Milan didn’t send offers, but Inter must have sent one. There was one from England, it was Tottenham.

“Mateo is a smart guy, he knows he would have played in the starting XI in each of those teams that want him but he is aware we count on him too.

“He is one of the players the club’s future relies on.”

So we went for him and Andre Gomes - thats a good sign as i think we need strengthening in that creative midfield type role, particularly with Dembele's injuries

Tottenham are reportedly preparing a bid for highly-rated Turkish attacking midfielder Yusuf Yazici.

The 20-year-old has been in sensational form for Trabzonspor this season and Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is said to want the player to improve his side’s attacking options.

Tottenham are reportedly preparing a ‘very serious offer’ for the player, who has also been linked with north London rivals Arsenal in the past.

Yazici has an incredible 13 assists in 13 games this season and although a January move seems unlikely, it is thought that Spurs will move for the midfielder at the end of the season.

A swoop for Yazici could also mean an end to Tottenham’s interest in Everton star Ross Barkley, according to sportslens.

Chelsea missed out on a summer deadline day deal for Barkley but Spurs were still said to be keen on the player and ready to battle their London rivals for the England star in January.

However, serious interest in Yazici seems to suggest that Barkley in no longer in Pochettino’s plans.

Interest in Dani Ceballos according to hotspurrelated (Dario Gol). Would be a wonderful signing, though probably unlikely.

Damn, why didn’t Levy think of that earlier?! I don’t think there’s one person involved at Spurs from fan to chairman that doesn’t want us to sign players as soon as possible, but there are very obvious reasons why we don’t.

Do we take the financial hit or not, that is the question?

Exactly. Levy doesn’t leave it late for the sake of it, we just can’t go all in on a player early. How much would Sanchez cost at start of transfer window? 50 plus million?
