I dont think Son is a Pep player, doesn't have the short game. Devastating on the break. Pep doesn't like long shots either.Interestingly Son would have been an ideal player for Pep, that left side player than could float inside, be provider or scorer. But yes, for 100M-ish, Kane or Son would have been a much better option for City (and Kane would have saved them a ton on Haaland).
Son is far from an ideal player for Pep, not many further from it. Son was at his best with space running at defences, Pep wants players that can recycle the ball, play quick short passes to open up defences and get in behind, not what Son is good at.Interestingly Son would have been an ideal player for Pep, that left side player than could float inside, be provider or scorer. Mahrez did what he didMahrez.
Villa played through him. He was allowed a lot of freedom of space and also ball possession. At City it's all a bit more systemic and he's not good enough and suited enough to demand as much of the ball. He's also not especially direct, he got lauded a largely because he's very good at keeping the ball at his feet and that allowed Villa move the team up the pitch but he was never particular direct in his play. I'll be honest I think he was always a little bit overrated at Villa tbh, how his time at City has gone was kind of predictable.Linked with Grealish again in - obviously gonads. But how was he so scintillating at villa, and meek at City?
