***Tottenham v Brentford OMT***

That was so bad, we looked better last season. Serious concerns about Van Hecke, old skool I know but I like a defender who defends. Senesi was good in that regard

An assumption on your part. If I may be so bold, a very foolish one. I would suggest that reducing what I expressed to such a black and white equation is unwise.

Just because someone chooses optimism on a football message board about their football club, it should not suggest to you that realism is an island on the opposite side of their reality...
I wasn't trying to assume, I was going off your words of what you prefer to hear. Maybe I misunderstood but the way you worded it t sounded like you disliked Frank saying it even it was true.

No positives to take from that game. There was not a single good performance. Just some were not as brick as others. Hopefully it’s a combination of fitness and testing problems as a new side. But maybe many of us need a reset on expectations for the seasons.

Ok, so for all the excuses for going into the season undercooked two questions:

- is it acceptable
- who is to blame if anyone

Unacceptable.

The situation currently leaves me blaming no-one per se. If it is the same in the next three games, then we'll soon be able to see where the faults lie...FWIW, I thought his presser was very good and clever, accountability and protection, a rare mind-trick.

Don't know what to say really.
Didn't see much pre season but if that was what was on offer then it was brick

Did you need Thomas Frank to come in and announce early doors that 'we will lose football matches'?
I did not.
For someone as apparently detached from reality as you like to paint me, I was keenly aware we would not go unbeaten in a season.
It was utterly unnecessary.

Is all good and well spending £300m on players in one window, but surely we should have remembered to coach the ones that were available in pre-season

Acceptable to degree; lots of new additions that will take time to gel especially if we take the world cup into account. But at the same time unacceptable because none of this shoud be a surprise, we knew the world cup schedule, they seemingly knew how many players they were going to target and bring in. Maybe we shouldn't have been going on the tour.

The tour was already scheduled so we might have been contractually obligated but this is one of those times where you have to say the club put money ahead of the team performance on the pitch again. Who is to blame? Probably whomever thought it was a good idea to do a tour of Australasia directly after a World Cup summer. Typical Spurs thinking.

@MartyFunkhouser this is actually a season where I am prepared to have patience and suffer if necessary (not like last season of course!) because even though it's been a bad start, I believe in the manager, what he's presented as a way he wants to play, and the type of side/club he is looking to establish. So in that sense he has my trust, patience, and support for sometime.

Just landed and see the score . Oh dear. Where we that bad ?
I watched the first half and couldn't believe Tonali is a £100m player, and that van Hecke is a £50m player. Mikey Moore is not ready, Gallagher is useless, and Richy decided to be the version of him that's always falling over. Next match needs to be Fernandes, Bergvall, Gray in midfield. Need some energy and talent on the ball

Australia in a WC year looks dumb

Indeed, De Zerbi was not happy about the tour and did feel it was not ideal. I have to think we won't be doing something quite like that again under him? Or is the 'business' of football now so dominant that the coach has to STFU and take it???

Absolute same. I am just purposely testing resolve and putting out questions.

I am now off to watch Broadchurch, nit sure why its taken so long. Murder and jumping off cliffs seems more cheery
