Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - Licence To Stand

I'm sure I read somewhere that her highness the lord marshall Brady picked all the plates and curtains in the London Stadium.

Wasn't the curtains a major problem though? They chose all the wrong windows so the curtains don't actually obscure the view of the pitch?

Looking at the renders of all the corporate areas i.e. Tunnel Club, H Club, Loges (wtf is a Loge and is it pronounced Low-g or ?), and the Sky Lounges, you can see why they are priced at £300-£500... they are full of gorgeous 25-35 year old ladies in evening wear. This really is top work, ousting all the ruffians and turning WHL into a high class escort zone.

Also we will have the longest bar in a stadium which is 86.8m long. Why not add 20cm and call it 87? Why not call it 95 yards? Why not add 10 or 11 yards and call it the same length as the pitch and invite punters to try a goal kick down its length?

was over at Christmas from Australia and managed to get to a couple of games. Took my brother with me to the Burnley game and I was absolutely gobsmacked at the new stadium build, it truly is impressive. My brother is a Chelsea fan and even he admitted it will be the best stadium in the country and Chelsea will have to do something drastic to get their new stadium to compete with it. Then took my daughter to the Chelsea game and we had a good walk around the new build before the match, she couldn't believe the size of it and the engineering to be able to build so much whilst still being able to play at the current stadium.

Been about 36 years since I first visited The Lane, and like many of you have said, it will be sad to see the old lady go but Jeez have we got something special to replace it. Can't wait to get back over in 18/19 to catch a game at the new stadium.

Ha-ha yes, when I first saw that I thought Oh my Ghod what a massive let-down, they produced this fantastic, highly sophisticated brochure and then they go and fart all over it with a glaring error like that. What clam was responsible for that ... oh hang on a minute there it is again, must be my ignorance. Oops.

Three developers in frame for £1bn Tottenham makeover

The scheme will include new public space as well hundreds of homes

Winner chosen later this year for job being carried out as part of Spurs stadium revamp

Haringey council has shortlisted three developers for a £1 billion mixed-use scheme being planned next door to Tottenham Hotspur’s new ground.

The 61,000 seat stadium has been designed by Populous and is due to be completed by August 2018.

Now Barratt, Lendlease – whose construction arm has been chosen to build the new Google headquarters in King’s Cross which have been redesigned by Thomas Heatherwick and BIG – and a team featuring Bouygues have been chosen to prepare bids for the scheme called High Road West which will link a revamped White Hart Lane station with the stadium.

It will feature 1,400 homes and also include a park, restaurants, bars, cafés, library and learning centre and a public amphitheatre to host screenings and community events.

A winner will be chosen by the middle of this year.

The scheme will run in tandem with the Northumberland Park Development scheme which includes the new stadium.

Populous is also behind a hotel and visitor attractions while Allies and Morrison has been chosen to design close to 600 homes in the shadow of the stadium.

A separate plan by Haringey council to redevelop its principal town centre, Wood Green, which will include 7,800 new homes, is set to be approved at a planning meeting tonight (Tuesday). It will involve the comprehensive redevelopment of 25 sites, including its own council offices and main library, the Vue cinema complex, and Wood Green’s Mall shopping centre.

A loge is a private box. Sort of thing you get at a theatre.

I think the more down-market, working-class stuff will be near the really long bar, a huge area planned for street food vendors.
There'll probably be a really long stretch offered for snack food, they should call it the Deli Alley.

It's not the length of the bar that concerns me, it's the length of the queues!

Yeah queues wind me up so much I avoid them.
They should have 43.4 metres of bar for people that want to discuss choices and make decisions and ask the wife and get a straw and get ice and change their mind and get change.
And 43.4 metres of bar for people that want 4 pints of lager in a tray, pronto, set price, NEXT.

Hope they don't copy Dortmunds prepay card system - that was farcical

I'm pretty sure I have read somewhere that it will be something similar. Certainly cash free (although that could allow contactless/credit cards), but I seem to recall reading about paypoints where you could get tokens or top up cards or something.

Not quite as definite as I thought I'd read, but it sounds like it is one of a number of options in their thinking. From the OS :
Catering and modern technology
We have considered the role of technology as integral to the design of the stadium and want to use modern technology to personalise and enhance the fan experience. As a result we are looking in detail at how technology can support us in things such as ensuring that queuing times are reduced. This includes EPOS (electronic point of sales), cashless / contactless and digital menu boards that will give supporters all the information they need on what is available at the concession they are at.

Given the attention that Levy seems to be giving to everything, and given the emphasis being placed on the whole "customer experience", I can't imagine they would go with a system that would be a pain to use.

However, any way for people to order what they want before getting to the front of a queue, then dithering around would be welcome.

Unfortunately football clubs make more money out of the modern customer who wants an experience rather that the "pie and a pint" types. My heart sank when I read my London Stadium had popcorn machines and pick'n'mix. Where's the big bloke in his old beige mac selling peanuts in a bag gone?

Isn't that just the modern equivalent of the peanut man?

I read in amongst all the stuff from last week that there would be self-service pumps to reduce wait times. So when that talk of serving 10'000 pints/minute came out, that's what it was referring to. Not having 5'000 barstaff pulling a pint with each hand every minute.
