His last 10 Premier league games for us and Forest.

Wins 0
Defeats 8
Draws 2
Sackings 2

Has a manager ever been sacked twice in 5 months before?
And this is the crucial point about Ange. He hasn’t done well in the PL for sometime. Doesn’t matter if he could, the fact is he hasn’t. When that’s put to him he blathers on about nonsense. Suffice to say the hierarchy at Spurs were right to sack him even after the Europa League win.

So they spend £200m over the summer with Nuno still in charge, then sack him early in the season for non-football reasons and appoint a manager known to be wedded (stubbornly so) to a completely different style of football. Who could have foreseen any problems?

It's all on Marinakis. The reason they are not building on their best season in decades is because of his ego.

Edu spent that money. Part of why Nuno was trying to get himself sacked.

I think people are missing the point slightly when they talk about his right to defend himself. That is perfectly true, but I think my Forest-supporting mate summed it up when we he said Forest fans don’t need or want to hear him spending significant proportion of his press conference reprosecuting his time at another club. If he spent more time talking to them, than he does to the media ie just using the press conferences to defend himself, he could buy himself more time, of which he is in short supply.

In some ways I respect him for not taking any brick from the media, and defending his record, but in others he is so tinned ear and thin skinned as others have said.

Just get on with the job, get the fans onside and take it from there. I feel for him, but he doesn’t half bring things on himself with how he chooses to communicate.

At the end of the day, the fans will be on side if he had started to win games. I think that’s separate to defending his record, because again it’s not like he is spoken about with respect, he is spoken about as a joke figure that doesn’t deserve to be here. There’s nothing he can say to fans that would override winning games - that’s the thing he needed to do. Also don’t think he would have gone on about Spurs every week, but setting the record straight after everyone had crafted the narrative for him I think is reasonable.

A shambles of a situation all round. Clearly the wrong move for Forest after Nuno, clearly a trigger happy owner with no patience.

It could have worked in as much as par for Forest, IMO, is mid to lower-mid table. Ange could have managed that with time, I’ve no doubt. However, given that expectations are elevated there after last year, his poor start and the shift in style, once momentum went against him, things snowballed. The constant media chatter willing a story knowing how shaky the foundations were, the crowd turning on him early, Ange’s public utterances all compounded each other to make the situation untenable. Sacking him is the right decision not because he wasn’t capable of doing the job or because he couldn’t have turned it around in a normal environment but because the whole cesspool of factors I mentioned just made the end inevitable.

Ange has some responsibility here. The job couldn’t have been less suitable for him and he went in knowing the situation. He’s better off out of it but his reputation is in tatters a bit. It’s a long way back for him.
