Breaking news: Megaupload has just been shut down in the US.

Could lead to similar for rapidshare etc

Or will we just see more sites starting up to replace them?

filesonic has shut down..bastards...just purchased a premium account yesterday..barely got started. piece of brick. dogcrap. this weekend of all bloody weekends. two bloody jolts. brickfest.
 
Pirate Bay is great for getting something immediately. I still use DC++ to download stuff, but it can take ages to get some of it.
 
Reading on the bolt forum, it seems the fileserve have shut down thousands of accounts the past few days, with megaupload gone and filesonic, hotfile heading that way too, rapidshare is again the only way going forward and for how long
 
I just renewed my rapidshare very recently.

How are they getting away with it, and the others not?

is it a jurisdiction thing?
 
rapidshare claiming after their purging exercise over the last year or so, most of their files are legitimate.
