The all new Striker thread..

Striker needed and creative attacker also especially if Ndombele isn't going to be played with Lo Celso.

The creativity problem is a big issue I agree. I fear that we wont get one though

If we could add a CF, CB and creative attacker it'll be an incredible window

Striker market is a weird one.

We’re either linked with 31+ year olds, or mid table fodder. But if money was no object, I genuinely can’t think who I’d go for!

haaland and mbappe being the obvious global golden boys, but where are the good up and coming English strikers for example!

Jade Jones at Peterborough for English.

I don't agree with that, playing Son or Bergwijn there and one of our other options wide still gives us a better 11 than keeping Son wide and playing some no mark up front.

Moving Son from LWF weakens us, better to have a no mark who at least knows how to play the role and draws the attention of the defense which allows Son to play where suits him best.

The problem is we have actually been told by strikers agents "they won't come to Spurs as long as Kane is there". There are very few players capable of actually challenging Kane for a starting spot in world football.

So you get

- Either experienced player at end of career willing to take less game time (massive risk if they are not already from this league)
- Young upcoming player who will have to adapt quickly without significant game time
- Journeyman type at their prime, but who will never do better than Spurs, so in that case might accept less game time.

Add the fact that we aren't going to pay anyone 200K to sit on the bench, you have the problem we have had for several years.

Depends what you qualify as a no mark
Liverpool won the league without a real striker for example
You can adapt if you have the squad and versatility

exactly, but I think that backs up my point

by "no mark" I mean an inferior footballer who is only there because he has played in that position regularly for another club and doesn't mind being a backup, most of the names we have been linked with I would put in this group, if we sign an out and out CF as an option for Kane, for me, they should be a better CF than our existing options, and ideally, be of the mindset that they can displace Kane

if not, be brave, better to sign nobody than the wrong body

We did that last season and look what happened when our only striker in Kane got injured and our primary fudged backup option in Son also got injured.

Doing something foolish once is a mistake doing it twice is stupid.

more foolish to bring someone in who is a specialist striker yet less effective up front than Alli or Lamela in that situation, as we’ve done before

I’d rather be short a player for a couple of weeks than be short of all the money wasted on wages to a player not worthy of a place in our squad, Joe Hart for example
