The fact that the table looks a bit funny at the moment reflects the difference in strength of the opponents of the various teams. City have played Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Hull, Stoke and Saudi Sportswashing Machine, while United have played the three promoted sides, West Ham, Swansea and Sunderland. They may be just 3 points apart right now, but it doesn't show the true strength of either side.

Stoke yet to pick up a point at home and Sunderland have 5 draws and a loss, but both are actually doing well. Stoke have compensated by beating City away, though Sunderland should be a little disappointed being the only team to have lost to QPR.

This is how many points each team need from their next nine games to match last season's halfway tally (yes, West Ham already have more points than they did after 19 games last season):

@cacollinson: The only 'Top 7' teams who have taken more points from their fixtures than last season are Chelsea and...Tottenham.

@cacollinson: Things actually not as bad as they seem at Spurs. Likely to look better in a few games' time #thfc

Despite Spurs recent woes, we're still on course for 5th place...

@cacollinson: The middle class is rising up...down with the tyranny of the Top 7! (table by @SimonGleave)
