Which player would you like to see take over from Luka Modric?

Can't see Jenas going to Sunderland, he would live in the goldfish bowl again* yet only this time everyone will hate him.

*Sunderland is a brick hole and all their players, live, eat, drink, shop, socialise in Saudi Sportswashing Machine. Well the odd one lives in Durham but not many, most live in Darras Hall which is where most of our players live.

Just got back from a 10 day holiday and find out we STILL have no strikers! WTF is going on?? Honestly, we've had some shocking windows in the past but this takes the biscuit. How can anyone with half a football brain think Defoe and Kane are enough for a Championship side, let alone Premiership!

Is it really that bad?

Same thing happened to me last week. Was away 10 days and was absolutely gobsmacked to find out that not even Ade had been confirmed when I got back.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is hoping to finally agree a £32million deal for Luka Modric .

Modric's representatives were in Madrid on Monday and believe they have brokered a compromise with £28m up front and the rest in add-ons.

They have arranged talks between Perez and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy by phone on Tuesday and are hoping to make a breakthrough at last.

The Modric transfer saga is the longest of the summer now that Robin van Persie has left Arsenal for Manchester United.

He even went AWOL before Spurs left on a pre-season tour of the US as he tried to get his dream move, but Levy has been playing hardball for months.

Tottenham are very busy as next Friday's transfer deadline approaches.

Continuing frustration in their attempts to buy Emirates Marketing Project striker Emmanuel Adebayor has them looking at another of the champions' legion of forwards .

There are also whispers they could put the Modric money towards a move for Liverpool and England striker Andy Carroll .

Spurs are one of three teams on the short-list for City's Adam Johnson as he prepares to leave Eastlands.

Also, new Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas last week dismissed the possibility of signing Rennes and France midfielder Yann M'Vila - yet he had the player watched in their weekend game .

The Modric money has to go towards finding some kind of replacement for Modric. Cannot lose quality like that and spend the money on Andy Carroll.

Carroll wouldn't move to Spurs.

It's back here or keep picking up his wages at Liverpool. He wants to be in Saudi Sportswashing Machine, so can't see him moving further away.

Didn't even bother with the Liverpool team bus on Saturday, jumped straight into a car to Saudi Sportswashing Machine, was out on the lash in Saudi Sportswashing Machine by early evening.

You think he wouldn't move to London in general? What about you lot taking him back?

I don't think so, he has turned down West Ham, okay not a good club but he is best mates with their captain and they are petty much the only club in the country stupid enough to pay him what he is on at Liverpool. I fact I think that clown shoe Sullivan was saying they were offering him a pay increase, might have been Gold, both tossers.

I suspect we will sign him on transfer deadline day, he'll have to be content with a place on the bench though but we need more strikers than just Ba and Cisse.

Fair enought mate. West Ham must be crazy, not because Carroll is a bad player but because that kind of money is ridiculous. Be interesting to see you do work out a deal with Liverpool because he doesn't seem wanted by Rogers.

Oh come on you must realise that be do all our business on the 31st of August by now.
The only way anyone would be shocked is if they're believing any of the transfer flimflam surrounding us.

huddlestone's fitness and attitude/work rate have always been something of an issue, imo, so if he isn't going to fit AVB's game plan of being proactive, energetic and constantly closing players down, then i can understand why he may not figure in our plans at this point in time..

Because hazy media speculation links Huddlestone to Stoke on a year's loan? Some 'unconditional support' he ended up getting. Turned on when he dared to exclude a fan favourite, I dare say?

No. I am more worried about the idea that industry is valued more highly than technique in 2 of our 3 CM spots. And should the AVB regime not work out and I have to hear about how good THudd is for a different team for the next 5 years, then I will be very disappointed as I think he is 'triffic player.

A concern of mine, I must admit.

Unfair mate.
Once the Modric saga has been settled, and the player is either playing for us or has been replaced, we will see.
The knock on Hudd is that he reportedly (and it IS nothing more than a rumor) has an ankle issue that will require careful management for the rest o his career.
I personally thought he looked overweight during the pre-season games I saw. We'll see, but as much as I love the passing range he has, Hudd has never delivered a truly great season IMHO.

Love Hud and was upset he wasn't in the team on Saturday but the way we played gives me faith in AVB. Do we really need two creative central midfielders in the three when we have Bale and Lennon flying as well? Modric was an exception because he gave work rate, mobility, defensive reading and creativity. Obviously finding another player like that is ideal but I think we'll have our work cut out for us if we don't get Moutinho.
