*******Spurs v PSG*******Official OMT*******

I didn't care about the result today. This performance makes me question why are we so scared of everyone? If we played more like this we would have probably had more rhythm today.

Let's keep playing like this. No point in being defensive and letting in 4 goals

Indeed
The facts have been facts for some time. Our squad is good not necessarily elite. This season has always been about whether TF can step up a level in terms of pressure and expectations, as well as can he align himself to front-foot possession-based football.
In fairness he could not have expected the level of defensive brain fartery he got in that second-half either...

It feels to me like Frank has to stick with some variation of 4-4-2 (the reset formation) for the near future, and find regular room for Bergvall and Gray who both bring so much (Bergy was great). He must be able to see that we're better with some level of front-foot intent instead of 7 dying a slow death behind the ball?!

No one plays 442 anymore… teams are used to playing against 1 striker and 2 wing forwards…

I seriously think playing 442 will see us have an advantage.

Especially in a diamond with bergs sarr and gray… loads of energy in there with either Simmons or Kudas at the top of the diamond

Another absolute shocker of a performance. 9 goals conceded in our last 2 games. Our current set of players never seem to learn from their mistakes. Its like deja vu every game
This was anything but a shocking performance! We got donw by two worldies and 3 Romero fudge ups. Apart from that, we did very well!

Well corners and throw ins are all the rage now, so might aswell go the whole hog and get 4-4-2 back in vogue and find our big man/little man combination up top before the rest of the league catch up:D....

Well. That was...
I'm struggling, because it was certainly better than on sunday, but then again, that is an incredible low bar.

Ok, we scored 3 goals. On 3 shots on target, IIRC. We shipped 5!
I can live with an occational 5 - 3-loss, and a gung-ho match is always fun. Was this really a gung-ho, though?

I don't really understand us at the moment. We appeared like a rudderless ship, the captain giving weird orders, the helmsman spinning the wheel despite it not being connected to the missing rudder, and the sailors keep chucking the sails overboard. And our single primed cannon, in a row of defective, fires random hits every now and then, but mostly shoots at our own deck. Oh, and the ship seems to be missing the bottom as well.

We're not solid at the back, we're not hard to break down, and we have absolutely no coherent plan going forward at the moment.

I'm very downtrodden at the moment, and I suspect not all of it is Spurs' fault with a lot of stuff going on at work and privatly, but even in my more gloomy moods I am usually rather good at spotting patterns and connections. Right now I see very little that makes sense or give any indications to what we want to be.

I hope I'm wrong, and that we emerge from this mist guns blazing, sails taunt and timbers creaking, blowing the opposition out of the water against Fulham on saturday. Otherwise I'm afraid Thomas will have to walk the plank, or be marooned on a remote island. (ok, enough with the sailing and pirate-references already!!)

XG from xg Philosophy has it as: PSG (1.87) 5-3 (2.30) Tottenham.

Quite an improvement from 0.07 or whatever it was.

I think someone already nailed it (Sissoko?). It was a win for manager tactics and a loss for player's individual errors. I would be asking 2 of them, Spence and Romero, to take a step down and watch the weekend game from the bench. Let them think about their casual nature to defending and whether it is acceptable. Both are repeat offenders. Get Danso and Udogie back in.

Then let's continue with what we saw for most of that game. Don't recall Palhinha as it all becomes less dynamic with him just sitting all the time. When Bents went into advanced areas last night, you just knew the 1 or 2 of the Gray, Sarr and Bergvall would be reforming the shield in front of the centre halves. When Bents got back into position the covering player just reverted back to the wide position. Same as if Gray or Bents pushed up on the press. The other 2 would drop in narrow. I personally believe the 4 midfielders that started last night deserve another go together.
