Famous ITK dragon1 claims we're interested, though he might just read Marca like everyone else, but we need buyers for players like Foyth or Aurier before we do any more business.
I’ve never heard of him.
Thereby no chance of us signing him.Real Madrid left back who spent last season on loan at Sevilla and had a really good season.

Indeed. His form and value is high and we don’t like getting involved in multi-team auctions driving bidding wars.According to Aly Gold, he's a player we like but LB isn't a priority and we'd only move for him if the price was right, similar to what happened with Bergwijn.
Did he play in the EL final?Real Madrid left back who spent last season on loan at Sevilla and had a really good season.
What about our 'special relationship'?Indeed. His form and value is high and we don’t like getting involved in multi-team auctions driving bidding wars.
Also, buying players from Madrid is always difficult with this sort of player, where madrid will insist on a buy back clause, which we in turn will not accept.
That’s a lot of hurdles to overcome and most of them are deal breakers.

Combined with that fact it was clearly just something they said to help get Modric, but weren’t contractually bound to actually deliver anything against it, so didn’t bother giving it a seconds thought.

Yep, that was my take on it as well.It was clearly flimflam at the time and was just spin to placate us.
