Sergio Reguilon

I'm warming up to this signing, tbh. Reguilon is an intelligent, brutally quick left-back, and, when paired with an attacking RB on the other flank, could allow us to overload the flanks against defensive sides - an alternative to having a bespoke creator like Eriksen in the team.

In fact, bringing him and Odriozola (also apparently available at Madrid) to the club would allow for two extremely similar, extremely rapid, intelligent full-backs on either flank. It would have course mean less playing time for Davies and our new signing Doherty (or at least, rotation), and would also probably mean Sessegnon is converted into a full-time winger - which, tbh, is the way his career is trending, since all his best attributes (great finishing, intelligent movement, striker's instinct in the box) are better suited to him being an inside forward than a full-back.

If the club wants to keep its zero net spend, however, I think just selling Foyth and Aurier won't be enough - we'll have to bin Ndombele as well, since we'll also have a backup striker to pay for before we can call our business complete.
 
Alistair Gold has said that we like him and are watching him but that it'll probably only happen at the end of the window, if the price is right.

According to Aly Gold, he's a player we like but LB isn't a priority and we'd only move for him if the price was right, similar to what happened with Bergwijn.

Indeed. His form and value is high and we don’t like getting involved in multi-team auctions driving bidding wars.

Also, buying players from Madrid is always difficult with this sort of player, where madrid will insist on a buy back clause, which we in turn will not accept.

That’s a lot of hurdles to overcome and most of them are deal breakers.
