We bought the lad for around £6,000,000 from Internacional in March 2010.

I would hate to estimate what he's worth today but I don't think a figure of £15,000,000 or more is unrealistic.

If only he could score a few more goals, he would be our Dave Mackay of the 21st Century.

Modern day football, the holding midfielder (sandro, biscuits, Barry, Carrick, Lucas, the german guy, Alonso) are not there to score goals, so dont expect more than 2 a season max! They are coached to do a job 50 yards away from goal.

one thing sandro has been doing better this season is charging upfield with the ball...absence of parker probably did him good in this regard.

Defensively he's probably one of the best defensive midfielders in the world, but even though his passing is improving I think your comparison with the likes of Carrick and Alonso is a little off as he's not that type of defensive midfielder. He's essential to the Spurs team at the moment but as I see it the trend for the top teams who like to play posession football is to play a deeplying playmaker in the defensive role rather than a destroyer.

For me he's been the best and most consistent player this season and it's a joy to watch a player always giving it everything.

Oh come on. Even at his best he isn't a patch on Sandro. We all got caught up in Palacios because he stuck out in our team due to his tackling etc. He was exactly what we needed at the time. He literally has no qualities that are better than Sandro. I did like Palacios though, his home debut against Arsenal is still one of the best home debuts I have ever seen in my life and his performance alongside Sandro against AC Milan at the San Siro will go down in history.
